Malta is among my favorite destinations to visit. The people are freindly, English customs are deep rooted, and the climate is ideal.  On my 2007 visit to Qawra (Bugibba) we found the La Palma Bar was next door to the Suncrest Hotel on Brankutli St.. A table in the sunshine, a cold beer, good inexpensive menu and the time to enjoy it.  After a couple of visits we were treated like regulars.  I took my family of 5 on a 6 month around the world sojourn.  We tried to experience each location as locals as much as possible.  The owner and other guests of La Palma Bar satisfied that requirement.   

Italy has become a run down theme park with ticket booths for each attraction.  Ancient sites were never designed for tour buses and the parking is chaos.  My advice is to arrive early and have patience.  The Greek and Roman temples are majestic.  Strolling and viewing from the ramparts of the city give you an appreciation of the size of the ancient Agrigento.

This is still a National Geographic moment.  If you want to see the magnificent city of Angkor Wat, don't wait.  The area is losing its character with development.  Cambodia is poor, but very friendly.  Bring lots of $1 bills, everything is a dollar, and I recommend a local guide. We stayed at Casa Angkor, a colonial hotel with charm and a good service.  Cambodia is inexpensive and working hard to join the modern world.
