Perugia, Umbria Region, Italy
I love Etruscan culture, so I was very excited to find this museum full of Etruscan riches and history. Perugia is a fairly small city, so if you just ask anyone "Museo Etrusco?" or something like that (yeah, I know, it's probably bad Italian) they can point you in the right direction. It is in a former abbey and just beautiful. The only bad part is that all the tags on the displays are in Italian only, which is not unreasonable to expect ( we're in Italy after all), but it'd be nice if at least a booklet in English and other languages was available to check out and take around with you. FYI: The Etruscans were quite unusual for ancient cultures in their treatment of women. Women were on a nearly equal status with men. Furthermore, in many ancient cultures, the phallus was used as a shape for jewelry and decoration motifs as a fertility symbol, but in Etruscan culture the female genitalia was used just as often. Sounds kinda gross, but it's not. This museum is definitely worth checking out.
Good review?
