We stayed at Hippo Lodge in the middle of the Mara and were well taken care of. We were very comfortable in the tents, that included a hot shower, flushing toilet and sink. Electricity runs from a generator during specific times of day.
The Masai were generally friendly and still have very deep seeded roots in their tribal customs and history. But be sure to ask permission before taking their picture.
We were there during late July and wore long sleeves most of the time. The mornings and evenings are very cool, temperature wise. Hat & sunglasses were useful to have.
Our driver was very knowledgeable during the game drives and knew his way around the endless unpaved roadways.
The roadways are a bit bumpy - so prepare to be bounced around a little bit.
