Lizzie Williams is a travel writer based in Cape Town, South Africa. Originally from London, she began her love affair with Africa on a multi-week overland tour from Istanbul to Harare, which resulted in ditching the job in the UK and living on a truck for five years as an overland tour leader. After running numerous tours in the Middle East and east and southern Africa, she settled in Zimbabwe for two years to run a lodge and ran tours in Mozambique. Now living in beautiful Cape Town, she has written numerous magazine articles, product brochures and websites on African travel, and is author of over a dozen guidebooks for various publishers on South Africa, Namibia, Kenya and Tanzania, and contributed to books on Egypt and Turkey among other destinations. For Bradt she is author of the only country-specific guidebook to Nigeria, which was extremely challenging to write, and the first city guide to Johannesburg. She spends a considerable time on the road each year, though now can’t imagine living anywhere else but Cape Town, which is one of the most exciting cities in the world. She’s presently enjoying the lead up to the 2010 Fifa World Cup and crossing fingers for tickets.
