It is very aesthetically pleasing with the river walk and has many restaurants right against the river. The mall is close but just like any other mall, although it does have an Imax theater and is dry for rainy days. The best time to go? During the spring months the weather is usually good, but can rain frequently. St. Patrick's day is a unique celebration here because they incorporate other culture's festivities in as well as have a boat parade down the river where the dye the river (more) green. Although Dick's Last Resort is a chain restaurant and not always family friendly (up to you) it is always a fun time! ![]() Los Angeles, California, United States ![]() Added Feb 9, 2010 Venice beach is a must see. There is muscle beach, where people really do work out, people rollerblading, skate tournaments, surfing, graffiti, Henna and real tattooing, medical marijuana facilities, college students getting wasted, artists selling crafts, and of course drum circles and music. Although it can smell a bit at times, it is all part of the scene there. Keep in mind that it does "close" after dark and you probably don't want to wander the streets around then anyways. Great place to find cheesy souvenirs, talented artists, interesting stories and great pizza. Just don't wander in the alleys :-) ![]() Yosemite Village, California, United States ![]() Added May 24, 2009 A nice way to cool down in the Spring or Summer. You can Raft as many times as you want for the day and then after you turn in your rentals, walk across to the island park and listen to some live music or watch a movie in the park. Also ends up close to the Summer Art Festivals. Watch your butt though, bumpy times are to be had on this river! ![]() Fredericksburg, Texas, United States ![]() Added May 24, 2009 This is a wonderful place full of day hikes, overnight car camping and Primitive camping. Wonderful views of the hill country are seen from the top of the big dome as well as the two smaller domes. Strenuous routes strait up and more relaxing hikes to the top can be found, but sometimes the way down can be disarming. Warning: there are snakes and cactus here! That being said, be cautious, wear long pants if you can stand to when you are out hiking and pack enough water and snacks with you. Wear lots of sun protection as there is not much shade on the domes and the rock really heats up! It is a great place to boulder, rock climb, hike, look for wildlife and commune with nature. It's called enchanted rock for a reason! ![]() Canyon Lake, Texas, United States ![]() Added May 24, 2009 This place was very beautiful and nice to come out to on a summer day in Texas. The water is cool, and the rock jetty provides a great place to lay in the sun. There are picnic areas with tables and barbecue pits, along with a play ground for the little ones. With a low entrance fee, and life jackets to borrow for the little ones, its a great place to bring your whole family. The bathrooms were pretty clean but we came at a pretty empty time. All around a good time! The lowdown onWhat's this person like as a travel companion? What do friends really think? Random schtuff Compliments Bonding moments Insights Spill the beans.
