Page 1 of 10 My Reviews![]() Rochester, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jun 2, 2011 Rochester Cathedral is the second oldest in England (the oldset being the one in nearby Canterbury). If you ever find yourself near Rochester you really should pay a visit. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added May 26, 2011 This is by far the nicest part of Paris! Great views thanks to it's elevation, a nice cathedral, painters and other visual artists working in the streets, the Dali Museum, the knowledge that Vincent van Gogh lived and worked there, and great food (try a cheese platter!) ![]() Rotterdam, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added May 26, 2011 De Kuip (actual name is "Stadion Feijenoord", named after the area of Rotterdam where it's located) is one of the largest stadiums in The Netherlands, and holds some 52.000. It is primarily used bij football club Feijenoord, but also hosts concerts. The acoustics in this stadium during concerts are very good. ![]() Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added May 26, 2011 The Keukenhof isn't in Amsterdam; it's in Lisse. Lisse is a village in what is known as the "Bollenstreek" or flower bulb area. ![]() Rotterdam, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added May 26, 2011 Very strange world famous architecture. These buildings are in the city centre, and you can actually drive right underneath them. Must be very impractical to live in though... ![]() Rotterdam, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added May 26, 2011 What is now called the "old harbour" is the part of the old Rotterdam harbour that wasn't lost during the bombing raid in 1940 during WW2. It gives the same old-fashioned Dutch feeling that the Amsterdam canals do. Well worth taking a look at if you happen to be in the city; makes a nice change of all the modern-day architecture. ![]() Rotterdam, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added May 26, 2011 Just a means of getting from one end of the city to the other. You can get a nice view of the city from this bridge though. The nearby "Erasmusbrug" is a more interesting bridge. ![]() Arnhem, Eastern Netherlands, Netherlands ![]() Added May 26, 2011 A small park with a small waterfall, worth taking a stroll if you happen to be near. Always liked the smell of a forest! Somewhere on the grounds there's an old manor house. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Dec 10, 2010 The nicest part of Paris! Don't leave Paris without having visited it! ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Sep 17, 2010 They have it all here; lots of traffic, an Egyptian obelisk and Louis XVI's head was cut off here too. Nice... ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Aug 20, 2010 Didn't actually "go for the ride" as I walked past it when it was still lying on it's side. I saw it standing some years later when I flew over it when on route to Cuba. Looked amazing! ![]() Winchester, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Aug 16, 2010 In one word: amazing. A prime example of Gothic architecture. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Aug 16, 2010 A small hotel, nicely located in the fashionable Parisian district "Le Marais", just around the corner from Place de la Republique, on Rue Meslay. The rooms are small but tidy. All rooms have a color TV, but the set is small and gives a very distorted picture (but who needs TV when staying in a city like Paris?). The biggest drawback of this hotel are the miniscule bathrooms; they're very small. The hotel has an elevator (small, but works most of the time) and serves French breakfast (won't fill your stomach, as anyone who's ever stayed in France will know). The staff are friendly, and do speak English, which is quite unique in Paris. A major subway station is located just around the corner, and the area is crammed with restaurants, bars and bistro's. An ideal starting point for people who want to check out Paris' hippest neighborhood and who don't care too much about luxury. ![]() Norwich, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Aug 14, 2010 Love this beautiful example of medieval architecture. Incredible masonry ![]() Canterbury, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Aug 14, 2010 A story of pilgrimage to Canterbury. One of the many... ![]() Maastricht, Limburg & Noord Brabant, Netherlands ![]() Added Jul 24, 2010 Love this place! lot's of good bar's and restaurants with a view of a grand church. ![]() Delft, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jul 24, 2010 Awesome place with a huge amount of old and new records. The owner always wears the same sweater. Lot's of funny stuff and accidents happen there on Sundays ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jul 23, 2010 Busy. Very very busy. ![]() Versailles, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jul 23, 2010 This woman was insane; she had a mock village built just so she could play milk maid, while the people of France were starving. It's no wonder they took off her head... Very impressive palace though, Versailles is a must see when in Paris. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jul 23, 2010 Very nice building, tough not as old as you might expect. Take a stroll through it, and close off with a drink in one of the bars right next door in Montmartre. ![]() Tilburg, Limburg & Noord Brabant, Netherlands ![]() Added Jul 22, 2010 lot's of cafe's and bars, nice! ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jul 22, 2010 It can be very hard to actually get to the top. Nearby Tour Montparnasse is almost as high and has the fastest elevator in Europe. ![]() York, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jul 22, 2010 The world's grandest railway museum, period! ![]() Varadero, Central Cuba, Cuba ![]() Added Jul 22, 2010 The beaches at Varadero are overrated I think; the ones at Guardalavaca are much nicer and less crowded. ![]() Memphis, Tennessee, United States ![]() Added Jul 22, 2010 I gave it 5 stars but would rather give it 10 if I could. This place just oozes history! ![]() Cambridge, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jul 22, 2010 Beautiful hall with an amazing ceiling wich you are not allowed to take pictures or images of... ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jul 22, 2010 The building is majestic and awe inspiring, however ques are horrendously long, the trip to the top is expensive (yes; climbing the stairs is cheaper than taking one of the elevators, but the stairs don't go all the way to the 3rd platform, and staff are tipically French; enough said...) ![]() Ely, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jul 22, 2010 When in England, visit as many old grand cathedrals as you can, this is one that should be on your list! ![]() Glastonbury, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jul 22, 2010 You'll have an awesome view of the countryside from the Tor. The picture above is not the Tor by the way; it was probably taken from the nearby ruins of what was at one time Glastonbury Abbey (before Henry VIII's dissolution of the monestaries) ![]() Antwerpen, Antwerpen Region, Belgium ![]() Added Jul 22, 2010 A nice building to look out on when you're enjoying a Flemish beer at the "Grote Markt" square ![]() Muiden, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 28, 2010 The castle in the picture, het Muiderslot, is the finest medieval castle in the Netherlands. It's nothing like the castles in Britain, but worth a visit anyway. ![]() Utrecht, Utrecht Region, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 27, 2010 Have seen many great exhibitions here. Well located (right opposite the train station) ![]() Wassenaar, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 27, 2010 A nice small-scale amusement park, also has accomodation for those who wish to stay the night(s) ![]() Texel, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 27, 2010 This lighthouse is located on a small Dutch island, which is well worth a visit if you ever come to The Netehrlands. ![]() Noordwijk aan Zee, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 27, 2010 Europe's space centre. It houses a very informative exposition and museum. ![]() Cambridge, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jun 27, 2010 Absolutely beautiful in summertime! Take a stroll along the banks or a boat ride in Venetian style. ![]() Folkestone, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jun 27, 2010 The fastest way to get into England. ![]() Vlissingen, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 27, 2010 One of the nicest boulevards in The Netherlands. Lot's of good restaurants and a large pier. ![]() Santa Clara, Central Cuba, Cuba ![]() Added Jun 27, 2010 This is not your average hotel, this consits of a lot of cabins which look a bit like old Taino huts. (the Taino were the original inhabitants of Cuba) The place has a nice feel to it and has a reasonable restaurant for Cuban standards. It also hosts a "fashion show" in the evening sometimes, which consits of very cute local ladies parading along the side of the swimming pool in bright colors to music coming from a very run-down cassette player. I liked this place, and it's very near the Che Guevara Mausoleum. ![]() Utrecht, Utrecht Region, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 At 110 m, this is a very impressive masonic building. A church was once attached to it, but it was destroyed by a tornado ages ago. ![]() Zoetermeer, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 Tried my hand at snowboarding here once, what a disaster! Had lot's of fun though! ![]() Oostende, West-Vlaanderen Region, Belgium ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 Oostende really is a ghastly place, very grey and depressing. Just take the next ferry to England. ![]() Bury Saint Edmunds, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 The name of this town alone makes it worth a visit. ![]() Valkenburg, Limburg & Noord Brabant, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 One of the nicest cities in The Netherlands. ![]() Alphen aan den Rijn, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 This hotel has a great restaurant, give it a go! ![]() Kreisfreie Stadt Aachen, Nordrhein-Westfalen Region, Germany ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 A great city to go on a shopping spree. ![]() Delft, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 This city has so much history, a must see for anyone who visits The Netherlands. Much nicer than Amsterdam! ![]() Utrecht, Utrecht Region, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 I love this part of Utrecht! Have a beer at the King Arthur Pub and enjoy the sights! ![]() Great Yarmouth, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 Great Yarmouth is nicely located, but has lost it's former glory sadly. ![]() Heerenveen, Northern Netherlands, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 Never seen ice skating there, just visited a concert. Nothing special to see here. ![]() Gouda, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 The Weighing House, or "De heksenwaag" in Dutch, is not in Gouda; it's in Oudewater. Here women suspected to be witches were weighed in order to find out if they really were witches. This place is not comparable to a place like Salem in the USA though; no woman was condemned to death. ![]() Vaals, Limburg & Noord Brabant, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 Be in 3 countries at the same time; The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany! Drielandenpunt has a tower from which you have a view of the 3 countries, and is located at the highest point in The Netherlands (328 m above sea level, which is very high for Dutch standards!) The park also has a maze made of hedges, a shooting range and a playground for the little ones. ![]() Antwerpen, Antwerpen Region, Belgium ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 The Grote Markt is a beautiful historical square surrounded by bar's and cafe's, well worth a visit! ![]() Birmingham, Alabama, United States ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 "Birmingham, Birmingham, the greatest city in Alabam. You can travel 'cross this entire land; there ain't no place like Birmingham..." (with thanks to mr. Randy Newman) ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 Love the building, don't like the people who live there very much tough... ![]() York, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jun 26, 2010 Thought it was a bit tame for a viking center. Was there a lonf time ago though, maybe things have changed now. ![]() Memphis, Tennessee, United States ![]() Added Jun 20, 2010 Beale Street is alive with blues! So much live music at night. Visit B.B. King's Blues Club, you won't be sorry. ![]() Glastonbury, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jun 20, 2010 A commanding view from up there. Once a church stood here, now only the tower remains. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jun 20, 2010 Beautifully located on a hill next to Montmartre, one of the many highlights of this amazing city! ![]() Antwerpen, Antwerpen Region, Belgium ![]() Added Jun 20, 2010 Beautiful grand old building, well worth a visit! ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jun 20, 2010 I love this part of the city, old narrow streets with painters everywhere. ![]() Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 20, 2010 Stay away, go to the Dapper Markt instead. ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jun 20, 2010 London is always well worth a visit, and dusk is a nice time to take a stroll along the River Thames ![]() Atlanta, Georgia, United States ![]() Added Jun 20, 2010 A large city square, near CNN headquarters. A good starting place to check out this big city. ![]() Newcastle upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jun 16, 2010 Bring money. lot's of it ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Jun 16, 2010 Building is nice, royalty sucks... ![]() Rotterdam, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 15, 2010 Nice city, my town ![]() Rotterdam, Zeeland & Zuid Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added Jun 15, 2010 Nice location, shops could be better... ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added May 30, 2010 This town is worth making a detour ![]() Shrewsbury, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added May 30, 2010 This is where the acclaimed BBC series "Cadfael" was recorded. ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added May 30, 2010 One of the world's most amazing bridges ![]() Newcastle upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added May 30, 2010 Cross the river Tyne in style... ![]() Pinar del Rio, Western Cuba, Cuba ![]() Added May 29, 2010 Nicely situated, great swimming pool, nice mojito's. ![]() Dijon, Burgundy, France ![]() Added May 29, 2010 Such a nice city, very much worth paying a visit. ![]() Varadero, Central Cuba, Cuba ![]() Added May 29, 2010 Not a great beach, the one at Guardalavaca is much nicer. ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added May 29, 2010 A historic dockyard, near the Tower of London. ![]() Cochem, Rhineland-Palatinate Region, Germany ![]() Added May 29, 2010 Beautifully situated ![]() Havana, Havana & Surrounding Region, Cuba ![]() Added May 29, 2010 Smoke a cigor on the steps. ![]() Maastricht, Limburg & Noord Brabant, Netherlands ![]() Added May 29, 2010 Good book store. ![]() De Koog, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands ![]() Added May 29, 2010 Lot's of sea creatures, very nice. ![]() Havana, Havana & Surrounding Region, Cuba ![]() Added May 29, 2010 A small copy of the Capitol in DC. ![]() Beilstein, Rhineland-Palatinate Region, Germany ![]() Added May 29, 2010 One of the many nice little town along the Mosel. ![]() Eindhoven, Limburg & Noord Brabant, Netherlands ![]() Added May 29, 2010 Holland's 5th city. ![]() Antwerpen, Antwerpen Region, Belgium ![]() Added May 29, 2010 Absolutely worth paying a visit. ![]() Havana, Havana & Surrounding Region, Cuba ![]() Added May 29, 2010 Beautiful hotel, loved it! ![]() Canterbury, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added May 28, 2010 Canterbury has no castle.
