The Colosseum in Rome is simply magnificent.  Standing there and looking at it, I was in awe that the Romans had the expertise to build it almost 2,000 years ago...and that it remains standing to this day!

This place is shopaholic heaven!  Each floor has its own theme, so you can quickly zero in on what you're interested in.  Eg. a girl can shop for clothes & makeup, and if her boyfriend gets tired of shopping, he can retreat to the technology floor and check out the electronics there.  Everybody's happy.  :)  This is a huge mall, so if you plan to do some serious shopping, allow at least half a day.  There are plenty of restaurants and food court spaces where you can sit down and take a break from all the walking & shopping, and where you can also recharge and wind up for more shopping.

It's very big and I was very hot walking around in the midday sun.  Be sure to bring lots of water because I don't recall seeing any drink vendors on the premises.
