Page 1 of 10 My Reviews![]() Venice, Veneto Region, Italy ![]() Added Jun 22, 2011 Taxi rides are the best way to get from A to B in Venice if you're in a hurry. If you just want to leisurely take in the sites, then you can do it by walking...it just takes significantly longer to traverse the city. ![]() Havre de Grace, Maryland, United States ![]() Added Aug 3, 2010 It is a small museum in a small MD town. What makes it cool?...Re-enactment of the British attack on Havre de Grace during the War of 1812. Great family event that takes place in early May (1st-2nd this year (2010)). ![]() Memmelsdorf, Bayern Region, Germany ![]() Added Aug 3, 2010 You can't really call it a castle because it's more of a palace. It was never for protection. It was a 17th century Bishop's hunting lodge and summer palace (baroque-style). It is now a museum and park maintained by the state. They have music performances inside in the summertime. There is also a little cafe there where you can enjoy the view of the Schloss and abundant flowers. Not a bad place to go for a walk or bike ride (from Bamberg or Memmelsdorf). ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Aug 3, 2010 Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are a "must see" if visiting London. Fat Tire Bike Tours operates a fine outfit that goes through there on a tour of the city. We caught a play in an outdoor theatre in Kensington Gardens that night. Great time. ![]() Asheville, North Carolina, United States ![]() Added Aug 1, 2010 I wasn't actually on the estate, but I saw it from the river while I was kayaking. It looked huge...definitely was a display of wealth (still IS I guess). Asheville is a nice area. ![]() Bamberg, Bayern Region, Germany ![]() Added Jul 31, 2010 It's not bad as far as Cathedrals go. It's definitely Bamberg's most recognizable landmark as it is on a hilltop. Bamberg in general is a great place to be. If you go to tourist information and do the "brew tour" then you'll be sure to see the Dom as you hike around Bamberg visiting the places that really make it popular. ![]() Memmelsdorf, Bayern Region, Germany ![]() Added Jul 31, 2010 The Drei Kronen is a gasthof (hotel/restaurant) in Memmelsdorf near Bamberg (about 5k distance). Service is great and the owner will probably ask you if you are enjoying yourself. Bamberg is famous for the number of breweries in the area. The Drei Kronen is no exception. They have an award winning rauchbier or "smoked beer" called Stöfla. If you're in Bamberg and getting into the rauchbier experience, then you've got to try Stöfla. Ein mal Stöfla Bier, bitte! ![]() Heidelberg, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany ![]() Added Jul 31, 2010 The philosophers walk is a romantic little hike. We went in Autumn and the hills were the colors of fall. Heidelberg offers a fantastic view. The castle, bridges on the river and town itself are all charming. ![]() Edmond, Oklahoma, United States ![]() Added Jul 31, 2010 Hafer Park is a decent park for a medium-sized town just north of OKC. There is a pond with a climbing wall next to it. Rock climbing holds have been put into the wall of a round building. Climbers there compete for time to make a lap. Edmond, OK is "A great place to grow" (sign at south entrance of city). I went to school there at UCO and loved it. I have a lot of great memories of that park. If you go there, do some climbing for me! ![]() Corpus Christi, Texas, United States ![]() Added Jul 31, 2010 I love Corpus, but the Gulf of Mexico is not the "place to be" lately...I hope that changes in the near future. :) ![]() Monterosso al Mare, Liguria Region, Italy ![]() Added Jul 31, 2010 The biggest beaches in the Cinque Terre area, but you have to pay for several of them. The free beaches are small and crowded, but it's still a beautiful place to be. The hiking in the area is amazing and the restaurants are decently priced. Make sure to try some pesto and something with anchovies on it while you're there. ![]() Rome, Lazio Region, Italy ![]() Added Jul 31, 2010 The locals evidently call it "The Wedding Cake" and some think of it as an eyesore. It is impressive and well lit at night...I'll say that. I don't have more of an opinion than just that, however. ![]() Schwangau, Bayern Region, Germany ![]() Added Jul 31, 2010 It offers a fantastic view of the Neuschwannstein castle (with a tour that is better too). Definitely worth it if you're in the area. ![]() Aberdeen, Maryland, United States ![]() Added Jul 31, 2010 The Chesapeake Bay is the best part of being in Aberdeen...if you have a boat or are able to rent a canoe/kayak. There is nothing else to say really. ![]() Mittersill, Salzburg State, Austria ![]() Added Jul 31, 2010 Lodging is very basic here, but it affords one quick access to the skiing/sledding that Austria has to offer in the winter. Mittersill boasts a 14 Kilometer sled run. I did it...twice. It was a blast. There is a bar/biergarden halfway down that is worth the stop. ![]() Gatlinburg, Tennessee, United States ![]() Added Jul 31, 2010 If you like the "weird" and are into visiting random/unique places, then this museum is for you. My wife and I went and took so many fun pictures. It's definitely a good way to spend a few hours while in Gatlinburg if you want to have a good time. There is one room that flashes you (like a camera), but when you look at the wall (behind you if you were facing the flash) your "shadows" are frozen (from the flash). It's one of many interesting exhibits. ![]() San Antonio, Texas, United States ![]() Added Jul 31, 2010 Was in San Antonio for New Years and it was a lot of fun. We did the Alamo and the Riverwalk. It was definitely a good time. ![]() Heidelberg, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany ![]() Added Jul 30, 2010 The Heidelberg Castle (in German: Heidelberger Schloss) is a famous ruin in Germany and a landmark of Heidelberg. These ruins are among the most important Renaissance structures north of the Alps. The beer garden right next to it is a lot of fun in the summertime too! ![]() Innsbruck, Tyrol State, Austria ![]() Added Jul 30, 2010 When driving through the Innsbrook pass, there is a rest stop that has a McCafé. The view inside is gorgeous. I've been there in winter and summer. I think the snow-covered view is a little better, but it's worth the stop either way. Also, there is a place to bunjee jump nearby (if you're into that). ![]() Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States ![]() Added Jul 30, 2010 This is Toby Keith's bar in Oklahoma City. I believe he has opened them in other cities since then, but to my knowledge OKC was the first (his hometown). It's a lot of fun. There are live bands and the occasional visit from Mr. Keith himself. Go there! ![]() Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States ![]() Added Jul 23, 2010 I love the Crystal Bridge in OKC. It's one of my favorite places there. You can't go wrong visiting the Heartland capitol (OKC). It's a fun city with great people. ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Jul 23, 2010 Great view of the river Danube from the castle itself. Keep in mind that there is more than one way to get up those steps. You can take the long way which is a gradual and relaxing incline or if you're motivated (or ignorant), then you can take a more direct route with a steep set of harshly inclined stairs. ![]() Winterberg, Nordrhein-Westfalen Region, Germany ![]() Added Jul 21, 2010 This is where I went skiing for the first time actually. It was fun. ![]() Venice, Veneto Region, Italy ![]() Added Jul 21, 2010 It's just about everything that I imagined it would be. Musicians playing at cafes, pigeons crowding the square and couples walking around with ice cones enjoying the ambiance. ![]() Rome, Lazio Region, Italy ![]() Added Jul 21, 2010 It's epic...definitely the coolest site in Rome. ![]() Raleigh, North Carolina, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 What's more important: a museum of science or a museum of history? ![]() Memphis, Tennessee, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 The place with the second best collection of Elvis memorabilia (after Graceland) is the Hard Rock Cafe in Memphis. ![]() Verona, Veneto Region, Italy ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 Pretty decent view of the ancient (rebuilt) bridge over the river. ![]() Riomaggiore, Liguria Region, Italy ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 The sites on the hiking paths here were picturesque. ![]() Florence, Tuscany Region, Italy ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 Seeing the largest brick dome in the world (built by Brunellesci) was pretty cool, but finding out that they didn't know how they'd finish it when they started was also pretty amazing. Brunellesci actually came up with the technology to build the dome during construction. ![]() Dallas, Texas, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 It had a very serious and somber tone. It was informative and worth seeing. A holocaust survivor gave us the tour. ![]() Flagstaff, Arizona, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 Any brewing company is worth visiting. ![]() Norfolk, Virginia, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 The largest naval base in the world is worth seeing. There are so many ships there. It's pretty cool. ![]() Nashville, Tennessee, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 You've got to love the convenience of Kampgrounds of America! ![]() Daytona Beach, Florida, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 The Beach! People go there for the Beach! ![]() Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 The Tulsa Aquarium is definitely worth seeing if you're in town. ![]() Seattle Heights, Washington, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 I'd love to go to school there someday if I ever get the chance. ![]() Vernazza, Liguria Region, Italy ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 The view from atop the escarpments was amazing. Definitely was the most memorable hike that I've ever been on. ![]() Sacramento, California, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 For the most part, Sacramento was a very clean city...but I have never seen more homeless people with hoop-earrings specifically. There were a lot of guys there with hoop earrings actually. I guess it is just the style there. ![]() Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 What the Wright Brothers Memorial doesn't tell you is that they were so concerned with securing patents that aviation didn't get off the ground as fast as it could have had they shared their knowledge with others. It seems that they were motivated by money more than science. ![]() Dresden, Saxony Region, Germany ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 A lot of Dresden got bombed during WWII, so much of what is there currently has been rebuilt. The Cathedral is nice. ![]() Saint Louis, Missouri, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 When in St. Louis, you've got to visit the arch and museum. Although, the line to actually go up into the arch can be long. ![]() Atlanta, Georgia, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 There was a great brewery that my wife and I had a good time at...but I can't remember the name. ![]() Miami, Florida, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 Airport is too busy...definitely a charged atmosphere if you like that kind of energy. ![]() Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 The beach is the best part of VA Beach. Go there. ![]() Washington, District of Columbia, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 When I was 10 I got to see it at night. The silhouette of the American flag was waving on the monument and I remember thinking that it looked really cool. ![]() Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, United States ![]() Added Jul 20, 2010 The only thing that made it meaningful was the copious studying I did before visiting Gettysburg. If you don't have the historical knowledge behind what happened, then it may feel like you are just going for a hike. ![]() Holy See (Vatican City) ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 It was worth it to see the Sistine Chapel, but it was really crowded. We did get to skip the mile-long line outside Vatican City because we made reservations online ahead of time. They don't let you take pictures or video of the Sistine Chapel ceiling. ![]() Williamsburg, Virginia, United States ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 Great theme park. I went several times when I was a kid. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 'The thinker' was one of the sculpures that I wanted to see while in Paris since I've seen it portrayed so much in the media ever since I was a kid. ![]() Panama, Panama Province, Panama ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 Laid back atmosphere on the Pacific side of Panama. ![]() Orlando, Florida, United States ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 I went as a kid and had a blast. Great time. ![]() Grand Canyon, Arizona, United States ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 They say not to hike between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM in the summer. My brother and I did a five hour hike from 10:00 - 3:00 in the summer and were fine. As long as you are in decent shape and drink water there shouldn't be a problem...then again, I'm not a doctor... ![]() Bamberg, Bayern Region, Germany ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 Fun brewery in Bamberg where you can get Rauchbier (smoked beer). ![]() Rome, Lazio Region, Italy ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 Like a Hard Rock in any city- it never fails to disappoint. My wife and I had a great time there. ![]() Barcelona, Catalonia Region, Spain ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 The Sagrada Familia is my favorite cathedral in Europe. What Gaudi did was so unique and wonderful. I'm glad that it is being built (and will continue to be for the next 50 years). Check it out and see for yourself. ![]() Munich, Bayern Region, Germany ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 Super fun atmosphere. Live band playing traditional German music. Waitresses wearing dirndls. Beer coming in 1 Liter steins. Great fun. ![]() Bruges, West-Vlaanderen Region, Belgium ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 Decent atmosphere. Free beer if you pay for the brewery tour! ![]() New Orleans, Louisiana, United States ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 Cafe Du Monde was a cool experience. We had a begnet and some coffee with chicory. It was sort of a "Been there and done that" experience. ![]() Corpus Christi, Texas, United States ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 Fun aquarium. I'd go again. ![]() Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 It's a great rock climbing gym in the heart of Oklahoma City that used to be a grain elevator. It has some really high climbs with varying degrees of technical difficulty. Great gym. ![]() Berlin, Berlin Region, Germany ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 I highly recommend Fat Tire bike tours if you're going to be in Berlin for more than a few hours. They have a few different tours of the city depending on what you want to see. It is totally worth it to see Berlin by bicycle. ![]() Nurnberg, Bayern Region, Germany ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 The Nurnberg castle is a fun site. If the castle isn't enough, there are plently of places in the city within walking distance that will make the trip there worth your while. ![]() Wurzburg, Bayern Region, Germany ![]() Added Jul 16, 2010 The Residence is totally worth it. They have English tours of the place, it's only a few Euro and it has the largest ceiling fresco in the world! Go to Wurzburg for that alone (if you're in Bavaria anyway).
