I recently camein to San Jose for a quick business and shopping trip. I needed a place convenient to the airport and shopping and dining in Escazu and offices in Santa Ana. Out of Bounds was a great solution for me. Owners Meranda and Matteo have a great location on the old road to Santa Ana in Escazu, across from the popular Taj Mahal Restaurant, and within walking distance of several others in the Paco Mall area. Its a small, friendly place with clean, bright rooms, well furnished, cable TV, wi-fi, a great breakfast service, and the most spectacular views - in the evening the lights of the Central Valley twinkle in the distance and in the morning you look out across the city to see the Paos, Barva and Irazu volcanoes. Its a fabulous way to go to sleep and an even better way to wake up. Sipping coffee on my balcony while sipping coffee and catching up with email was a delight. I felt a little guilty, and look forward to returning with my husband so we can share the experience. The always smiling Ricardo helped me in and out with my heavy bags and I enjoyed the secure parking area because I had a car full of purchases, too many to unload, and needed a safe place for them overnight. Out of Bounds is equipped to provide tourism services--airport pickups, shuttles, private drivers, day trips, etc., so this is a great place for tourists who need a first night/last night place or a base in the Central Valley for a longer stay. Rather than stay at a boring, generic, chain hotel, or in some of the riskier parts of downtown San Jose, why not enjoy a safer, more customized experience at Out of Bounds? Meranda and Matteo are greats hosts eager to share their knowledge of their vibrant neighborhood and the rest of Costa Rica.
