The Vancouver Aquarium is a good place to go for a family outing. You can see dolphins, sea turtles, and beluga whales, among other things.

The San Diego Zoo is one of the finest zoos in the world. Great collection and lots to see.

The Memorial Peace Park is near ground zero and makes you contemplate and reflect on what happened 65 years ago.

The shattered building and accompanying museum is a fascinating and sobering look at the devastating effects of war and atomic weapons.

Although I only stopped in Serious Pie for a few minutes (as part of the Savor Seattle Gourmet Tour), I'd have to say that their pizzas are excellent. We had the margherita pizza and a chanterelle and truffle cheese pizza. The latter was amazing as the mushroom flavours exploded in your mouth. I didn't have a chance to go back for a full meal (it's very busy and doesn't take reservations), but will definitely try in the future.

The V. Sattui Winery is a nice place to go for a picnic. It's pretty picturesque and they have a cheese and deli shop too. The winery does various tastings as well, and is quite popular. You can purchase the wines after (or before the tastings). I like dessert wines, so I came away with some Muscat and Angelica.

Had the $38 three-course menu at DB Bistro Moderne, which included the soup of the day (Asparagus Veloute), Coq au Vin, and Strawberry Pavlova.  There were also a couple complimentary amuse bouches, including Alsatian flatbread and a smoked salmon crepe. 

The food was expertly cooked, with the Coq au Vin being very flavourful and moist, and the other dishes being quite tasty as well.  I also got to try a bite of the DB Burger, which was good, although it was huge and needed to be eaten with a fork and knife.  Service was outstanding -  we received new bread and water as soon as it looked like we were running low.

I had a Mumbai Madness dog here, which is laden with butter chicken sauce and chutney.  Interesting flavour combination that works very well together and the wiener is very good too.

Big City Cupcakes has a very tasty assortment of moist cupcakes.  Prices on most cupcakes are $2.95 or $3.95, and include excellent flavours such as Toffee Crunch, Red Carpet, Truffle, and Strawberry Shortcake.

We had the $30 tasting menu at Maenam since we had a large group.  For that, you get a wide array of appetizer and main dishes - enough to get you well satisfied to stuffed.  All the dishes had ample usage of spices and herbs.  Some (like the halibut green curry) might be on the overly spicy side for some people, so be ready if you have that.  Favourites include the hanger steak salad, the very intensely flavoured octopus salad, the banana blossom salad, and the sweet red vegetarian curry.

The Ring Road in Prizren is pretty cool.
