Between this place and the Dirty Duck this is one of the more touristy/well known restaurants in the town of Ubud. They are known for their pig plate. The place closes around 3 in the afternoon so be sure to go there for lunch. A must stop when you are in the city of Ubud.

We were recommended to go here on our way to Mayan Resort for a massage at the spa there. The food is pretty authentic. I recommend the fish.- I believe I had some sort of fish with garlic.
We heard that this was the best fried chicken stand in Taipei so we went. Very flavorful chicken. You may order, mild or spicy. Hot or cold this stuff is good. We also got an order of sweet potato fries. Now how can you can wrong with that?
Best fruit shaved ice ever! This place is known for the Mango shaved ice with mango sorbet, syrup, mangoes and ice. Sounds sweet but it isn't. They also have Kiwi and some other fruits. You may add grass jelley, red bean, etc. If you'd like.
This place is in a very convenient location. If you stay in a lodge, cabin or hotel off the strip, its the mountain is easily accessible. Heavenly is is accessible of the main strip off the street where you can purchase a lift ticket and hop on the gondola which takes you to the top of the mountain. Heavenly is a pretty big mountain, theres the california side and the nevada side.
I went in summertime and did some downhill mountain biking. It was great, we got suited up and did a lot of single track trails. Also did a scavenger hunt like the amazing race and one of our tasks was to ride the gondola up to the top and buy a postcard at the store.
This is a great place to hang out and take in the gorgeous view of the Adriatic sea. There's Buza I and Buza II. II is the one located off the wall of Old town. You may bring all your swim stuff and walk down to the base of the cliff where you can sunbathe or swim off the rocks. A tip is to walk the Wall right before sunset and end your walk here where you can grab a drink while watching the sunset.
Can you say best Clam pizza ever? Seriously...it might not sounds super appetizing but its delicious. This is what Pepe's is best at - Thin crust, white pizza topped with fresh clams washed down with their also known orange soda. Bon Appetite!
Din Tai Fung the world renown Shanghai dumpling house. They just opened a 2nd location 2 doors from the first in Arcadia. Its in the same plaza but behind the bank. I have been to both locations in Arcadia and in Taipei but its been so long that I can't really recall my experience in Taipei. I only remember that it was a long wait, that my uncle had to pulls some strings to get us in and that the food was delicious. The soup dumplings are only served on the weekends and you must get there early as they sell out by mid day. Be prepared as there usually is about a 30 minute wait for a table. My all time favorites are the chicken soup, the crab dumplings and the rice cake red bean dessert.
10 kune per slice, 2 slices a person and you've got your meal for just 20 kune. The pizza is really tasty, thin crust. I had a slice of cheese and pepperoni. We grabbed our pizza and ate it on the ferry heading out Lokrum island for some swimming in the Adriatic sea. Its fast, inexpensive, convenient and most importantly good. If you're traveling on a budget my suggestion is to eat Oliva and drink the fresh free water from the fountains all around old town.
If you're looking for seafood, in Dubrovnik, this is the place. Lokanda has really reasonable prices. I had the mussels and shared a octopus salad with my friend. The mussels were by far the freshest mussels I've ever had. The ambiance is great where the restaurant is situated right on the water where the boat docks for the Lokrum island ferry. Out of all restaurants we ate in old town, this was bay far the best bang for the buck.
If you're flying into or out of LAX, you should try and make a stop at Tito's. Its about 5 minutes from the airport. The tacos are crunchy and yummy. You automatically get chips and salsa with your order. Be sure to get the big tub-o-salsa so you'll have enough for your chips and tacos.
A friend recommended this place. Myself and a couple of other geckogo-ers were visiting in los angeles and I was able to get somewhat of a last minute reservation. There's about a one month wait for a reservation but maybe you can get lucky like us, 3 weeks out and was able to get in at 945pm on a Sunday night. Let me tell you, its worth it. You might ask how good can pizza or a caprese salad get? My questions exactly. This is probably one of the best meals I've ever had. Everything we ordered was amazing. The pizza here is thin crust and apparently very similar to the pizza served in Italy. My recommendations -- fried squash blossoms appetizer (we wanted to get the pizza as well but they were out), the caprese salad with the garlic toast for dippin, the truffle cheese pizza and white bean bruschette. Mario Batali...Iron Chef...you can't go wrong.
If you head out to Vietnam, you must try this special dish called Cha Ca. It is fish dish cooked in oil and dill brought out to you cooking in a pot. It is served with a sauce, dry vermicelli noodles and peanuts. My friend and I were told go to this place knowing that they served fish. We ended up meeting some friends during our trip who did not eat fish so we scratched the idea of trying this place out. My friend and I had sometime before our planned late dinner with the rest of the group and walked around the streets only to see Cha Ca La Vong in front of our faces. As hungry as my friend and I were, we decided to pop in just for an appetizer not knowing they just serve one dish. We ended up ordering one to share and were so glad we did. It was SO good!
I didn't get to try the food here as we went after dinner. Was able to grab a pint or two with my friends. Great place for beer and live music. If you want to try and get away and escape into traditional pub atmosphere, this is the place.
We took a one night tour of the bay with TM Brother tour group. We hopped on a junk boat and lunch was served on the boat as we rode out to a cove where we got off and took a tour of some caves. After the short hike, we got back on the boat where they took us to a floating house where we were able to get on kayaks and kayak around the bay as the sun was setting. It felt like I was in a dream or movie. The views were breath taking. That night we were anchored on the bay and had dinner. The next morning we went to one of the small island and had a chance to dive off the boat, swim, and do a short hike up to the top. The boat then took us back to shore and we were charted back to Hanoi and grabbed lunch on the way back. This trip with all meals came to about $50 usd.
One of the more packed places in the city. This place is loud and crowded. I would recommend reservations. The food is wonderful and inexpensive. There is also a location up in northern Vietnam in Hanoi.
If you want to give authentic vietnamese. This is a great place to try out. They have great flavorful dishes. One I can't recall the name of but it comes in about 6-8 pieces where the bottom has a layer of crispy rice. They are known for their claypot baked bread. When you order it the server will toss it across the room, breaks the claypot and out comes the fresh bread.
A definite must go to while visiting the city of Saigon. They have great, inexpensive food. I can't remember the name of the place I was at but they had tanks of crab/fish at there place. We had clams and glass noodles with crab and topped it off with my drink of the trip - fresh coconut juice. Delicious and very inexpensive. I definitely would go back.
I really enjoyed this place. It somewhat made me feel like I was back in the states with the cover songs being played but the band and crowd was definitely local.
This is a MTV spring break type hostel. Pool with bar right up in front of the place. Not many hostels/places to stay in the area but this is the happening spot if you're traveling to Puerto Iguazu. Reasonable prices and great all you can eat and drink bbq dinner.
The main attraction in San Francisco. a must see.... if you get a chance I recommend biking or walking/running across. If you bike across from the San Francisco side to the Marin side, you can bike around Mt Tam, or hang out in Sausalito grab some food and take the ferry back across.
Supposedly going to a 'travel show' but going on a food binge instead. I love the idea of travelling - "stomachs first" :p Can't wait for the next adventure!
