This beach is one of the nicest I have ever seen. One of the great things about it is that it offers a wide range of activities so it can be fun for everyone. I personally loved snorkeling here.

Natural History Museum

I personally love the displays at the Natural History Museum and in the winter the ice skating rink there is fantastic. It was so much fun, and, like many of the museums in London, the museum is free to the public.

There are so many great places on 5th Ave and it's a lot of fun. While many know the stores that currently occupy 5th Ave, other great attractions are the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, the Guggenheim, etc.

Great cathedral, but it is quite expensive. You can see where Beckett was killed, great artifacts, and the fantastic architecture. I would recommend not taking the tour, unless you really want to.

One of my main reasons for going to Florence. Everything about it was fantastic, from the architecture to the view from the top and everything in between. Make sure to wear church appropriate clothes.

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris

This is one of my favorite places in Paris. It's absolutely gorgeous, with the stained glass windows, the sacred Church objects, and everything else that made this church so special. Just be forewarned that there are many pickpockets and with all the crowds in and around the Church, it's very easy to become the victim of a crime.

I love this place. I think if you head to Athens, you have to go here at least once. It has a fantasic view of Athens and you can see some of the other artifacts in the museum. Wear proper shoes though since it can become very slippery, especially if it rains.

Sacré Coeur Cathedral

Beautiful church, even at night when it is all lit up. If you climb to the top of the dome, you get a fantastic view of Paris. Try to dress in a "church-friendly" manner. I saw quite a few people who did not and people were not happy.

The Louvre Museum

I don't think you can beat the Louvre. There is so much to see and do there that I spent several hours in the museum and still didn't see everything I wanted to. The only problem is when they close sections (and from what I've been told, they seem to do it frequently). If you want to see the Mona Lisa, get there early as the crowds can be outrageous.

Château de Chambord

Lovely chateau that once began as a "small" hunting lodge for the King and just kept growing. During the Revolution, much of the interior (art, furniture, walls, ceiling tiles, etc.) was either stolen or sold, so not much remains in the building now. One of the best things about the chateau is the double-helix staircase that da Vinci was thought to have created. Neither staircase ever meets and it is fun to have one group head up one staircase, and another go up the other (you can see each other through slats in the staircase).

Château de Chenonceau

I absolutely loved this chateau! When you first come upon it, it doesn't seem like much since you are only looking at the narrow entrance, but if you walk along the water and look at it another way, you can truly begin to understand why this is known as one of the best of the Loire chateaux. Several kings, queens and royal mistresses lived here, and during World War II it was used as an escape from the Nazis (it was a bridge between Nazi-occupied France and the "free" France on the other side of the river). Then inside is lovely as well, especially the chapel area. One of the most interesting areas to me was the garden. On each side of the castle, lies one garden, but one belonged to the Queen (Catherine de'Medici) and the other belonged to the King's favorite mistress (Diane de Poitiers), both of whom lived in the castle and hated each other (the King greatly preferred his mistress to his wife).

Chateau D'amboise

This was a great chateau and was the perfect place to start our day. Check out the chapel (it was once connected to the chateau, but is no longer joined) to see da Vinci's "grave", as well as some of his works of genius on the grounds. Da Vinci lived at the chateau for a time, so as a sort of payment, he often gave many of his inventions and paintings to the King and his family (this is partially how France and the Louvre came to possess The Mona Lisa). Be careful if you have problems walking or climbing. Several people we were with were not able to make it up to the chateau (the climb was a bit steep and the cobblestones were tough, so wheelchairs, strollers, etc. would not really be an option).

Château d'Angers

I had to go here on a school trip (I also had to present on the Apocalypse Tapestries), so I was not really looking forward to any part of this trip. However, upon arriving at the Chateau, I found it was actually fantastic! The tapestries (it was once one long tapestry, but was split into many smaller pieces years ago) were gorgeous and it was a lot of fun to wander around the grounds.

Tucker's Town, Bermuda

While some might feel it's not worth the price (when we went it was around six dollars a person), I thought this place was great. The guide led us around the area, explaining the wildlife, landscape and culture of Bermuda. We then got to see numerous animals, including turtles, sea turtles, lobsters, eels, sharks and many tropical fish. You can also "fish" for all the creatures in the blue hole, which basically consists of using hookless baited lines to feed the creatures. It was a lot of fun and my family and I learned a lot during our time there. It was one of our favorite things to do during our time in Bermuda.

Mozarts Geburtshaus

Salzburg is known for three things: Christmas, The Sound of Music and Mozart. If you want to learn about Mozart and his life, this is the place to go. All in all, the museum was pretty great. His birthplace is in a great area of Salzburg, so you wouln't be going out of your way to find it. Also, if you have the Salzburg card, the admission is free.

This is one of the best stores in Salzburg. They sell fantastic holiday ornaments (really for any season, since they have Easter, Halloween, etc.). The best ones are their egg ornaments, which are real egg shells that have been painted and/or carved. If you buy them and plan on traveling with them, I suggest having the store ship them home, as they guarantee the ornaments will all arrive at the address unharmed (and if they don't, you send them back and they will send a new one).

Golden Gate Bridge

I personally love this bridge. Even if you just go across it on one trip, it is well worth it. Not only is it a gorgeous view, but it is a great way to get to Sausalito (really expensive, but a great place to walk around). When you come to the end of the bridge, look on the hills for the bunkers from World War II. I also suggest visiting Muir Woods.

FAO Schwartz Toy Store

Whether you are a child, or just a kid at heart, this store is amazing. From the giant animals to the candy displays, from the piano from "Big" to the massive Lego/Barbie/Cabbage Patch Kids displays and everything in between, this place is a dream come true. Floor after floor will entertain and I can never leave without buying something. A "must see" in NYC

You know it's a great place if the NYU students and faculty/staff are there every day hanging out (it's a symbol of NYU so it has to be great). Great spot to relax and enjoy your surroundings and there is almost always something going on there.

I love this place but there is no way I would ever be able to afford to stay here. Instead, my family and I went to dinner here one night. The food was fantastic (as you would expect) and the wait staff seemed completely dedicated to making the patrons feel welcome and appreciated. The hotel is supposed to be haunted (as my cousin informed me) and I know it was shown in the movie "Some Like It Hot". I loved going here and the shopping center that runs beneath the hotel was an added bonus. I also loved the bow tie chocolate covered strawberries :)

I love Jack's. It is a restaurant that is synonymous with Albany and as soon as you make your way onto State Street, you will see its sign. Great food and great atmosphere (my family has Christmas Eve dinner there every year), but I would suggest making a reservation. Often, you can go there and see politicians (you know it's good if they eat there on a regular basis).

Now called the Times Union Center, this is the main concert/sports venue in Albany. Almost every night, there is something for everyone, whether it be a hockey/football/basketball game, or a concert by a big artist. Just a warning, if you're going to something big there, get there early (you could park early and then go eat before heading to the event) because parking will be limited (and very expensive in the case of several areas).

I loved going to the Smithsonian museums. One of the best aspects is they are free, so it's something you can save money on while enjoying. They also house so many different displays that everyone can be entertained. Since it doesn't cater to one specific type of person (meaning it isn't just art or artifacts, etc.), everyone can do their own thing while exploring American culture.

There is just so much to see and do at the San Diego Zoo that I don't think you could ever go wrong. The grounds seemed to be really clean and nice and my entire family enjoyed their time there. I definitely suggest people head there if they are in San Diego.

I think this place is fantastic. Not only is the food great, it's also really cheap. Every meal is about six or seven pounds and they give a lot of food. Also, the outside of the pub is wonderful since it's covered in flowers (you won't miss it if you're walking by).

Buckingham Palace

I think if you head to London, you have to go see this. If you go during the summer, you might be able to tour the palace (it's only open to visitors for two months every year). The Changing of the Guard Ceremony is pretty fun and when I went they played themes to movies and tv shows (Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, ET, etc.). If you don't go during the summer, check to make sure that the ceremony will actually take place. During the summer, the ceremony takes place just about every day as long as the weather will allow it. However, during the rest of the year, the ceremony is performed on alternate days (odd or even days depending on the month), so make sure. Also, get there early because it gets quite packed.

Victoria and Albert Museum

One of my favorite things about London is that many of the museums are free. The V & A is one of them and holds many amazing things. One to check out is Dale Chihuly's (an American artist) blown glass chandelier...it's breathtaking!

I absolutely love Kew Gardens. The entire area is just beautiful and there is always something going on there, whether it's an exhibit (I've been several times, but my favorite was when Chihuly had all of his glass works on display, placed in interesting spots across the gardens) or an event, such as the Easter Egg hunt which is held every year. This is another place which offers discounts if you carry ID (student, senior citizens, ect.), so I recommend obtaining some form of international id (for example, if you're a student, try and get an ISIC card).

Westminster Abbey

Definitely head here if you're in London. Even if you're not into religious areas, it's worth it to see the burial place or memorials of famous citizens of the British Isles and the rest of the world (Elizabeth I, Milton, William Blake, Robert Browning, Newton, Chaucer, Darwin, Churchill, Oscar Romero, Handel, Wilberforce, Dickens, Tennyson and Martin Luther King are just a few of those that can be seen). You can also see where Elizabeth II and many of her ancestors were crowned, and also where Princess Diana's funeral was held.

I love Portobello Market. You can always find great things there, whether it be food, clothes, jewelry or anything in between. I used to live near there and would go there every Saturday. My suggestion is to get there around 9:30am or 10am...while you won't be able to find many exceptional deals (since it's the beginning of the day, many vendors will be charging you their asking price, as opposed to the end of the day when they want to get rid of their merchandise), you will beat all the crowds, which can be overwhelming at times. Be careful of the pickpockets in the area.

I love Hyde Park (and Kensington Gardens). I used to live in London and nothing was better on a nice day than to head to Hyde Park and walk around or just laze around in the sun. My only suggestion is to watch out for the folding cloth chairs that are set up around the ponds. If you use one, you will be charged (they are rented out) and there is an employee who comes around to collect money. Another suggestion: DON'T FEED THE BIRDS!! The swans/ducks/pigeons, etc go crazy and you will most likely be attacked as my friends and I have witnessed on many occasions.

Hampton Court Palace

I love this place and think it is a must see when you're in London. Since it is outside the main city area, it's like a little break from the hustle and bustle of constant activity within the city. It is easy to lose track of time when you walk around in the gardens or try to make your way through the maze (there is a little maze on the grounds that's pretty fun). I recommend seeing if you can take a boat from London to the palace...it's a fantastic way to see it.

Festung Hohensalzburg (Fortress)

It's a great way to see the entire city, but it is also kind of expensive to take the train up (it's ten euros for a minute trip). Just be careful when walking around the fortress since some of the stairs, etc are steep.

The Original Sound of Music Tour in Salzburg

Even though it might sound corny, it's a great way to see everything and to enjoy yourself. Also, if you're a student (with an ID), you can generally get a discount on the tour. Many of the tour companies also have other great tours you can go on (the salt mines, the ice caves, etc.).

Old Town is fantastic. Not only is the architecture amazing, there is just a unique feeling that you get when walking through the area. There is so much to see in the area and it is easy to explore everything you want to see. I suggest checking out the cathedral and Easter/Christmas in Salzburg.

Mirabella Garden

Great place to go and relax. Sometimes you can find musicians or artists in the gardens. When I went, there was a steel drum band playing for a while, which my friends and I really enjoyed. If you head toward the palace and the fountain, you will recognize the area from The Sound of Music (the real family is from Salzburg and the movie was filmed there)--the stairs and such were part of "Do-Re-Mi"

I love this place and the fountains are fantastic. Just be careful with all things electric, especially your camera. My friend made the mistake of leaving her camera uncovered and it broke when it was sprayed by the trick fountains. Once you finish the tour, you can explore the palace and grounds, especially the Sound of Music pavilion, which is also on the grounds.

I love this place. There are fantastic stores all around and the architecture is certainly interesting (the stores all also have iron signs indicating what they are), Mozart's birthplace and the puppet woman (she sells puppets outside every day). Check out two stores: Easter in Salzburg and Christmas in Salzburg for amazing handmade ornaments (especially the egg ornaments). Fair warning though, many of the stores (except for the corny tourist shops) are quite expensive.

I love this place. Not only is it a great place to just relax and enjoy your surroundings, you can take in the fish ponds filled with koi, the drum bridge (if you have kids, beware because they will be all over this one), pagoda, tea house and numerous sculptures, which combined make this a wonderful spot.

Golden Gate Bridge

This is a "must see" in San Francisco. There are plenty of great vantage points in San Francisco or Sausalito to get great shots of the bridge. I would actually recommend heading out in the morning (when the fog is out) or at sunset because you can get gorgeous shots (if you head out in the morning, the fog makes it seem as if the bridge appears out of nothing--it looks like it's floating in the clouds).

Fisherman's Wharf

I think if you're a tourist in San Francisco, you sort of have to go here. You get great views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the cable cars, Alcatraz, etc. However, thanks to the overabundance of tourists and "touristy places", it loses some of it's appeal (my family and I quickly went somewhere else).

I personally love this area. I loved going and watching them make the chocolate (and eating some afterward). There are other stores and places in the area that are also fun, but the chocolate is certainly the best (get the hot fudge sundae). It's also near one of the stops on the cable cars, so you can easily see some of the SF landmarks.

This place was fantastic! I cannot say enough good things about it. While the food wasn't as great as it has been in the past, the interior of the restaurant was gorgeous and it provided my family with one of the best views of the city. It's worth it to check it out at least once on your trip.

This place was just somewhere my friends and I went while in Edinburgh. Since most of the other restaurants and pubs were filled and we were getting tired after walking the entire day, we decided to eat here. This was possibly the worst decison we could have made. Not only was the service bad, the food was horrid. My friends and I all felt sick that night and we will never go back to any of those restaurants!

In my opinion, if you go to London, you have to go to the British Museum. Even if you don't see everything (I lived in London and still didn't see everything) it's great to go there and just see the highlights like the Rossetta Stone and the ancient and modern artifacts from all over the world. The best part is that it's FREE, so it's great for people on a budget. They generally also have fantastic exhibits (generally about 10 pounds) throughout the year, and you could easily spend an entire day there.

I love this bridge and it's so funny to me that most people think it's London Bridge (because people expect that one to be really nice). If you can, try to go on a day when the bridge will go up (to allow ships to pass) as it is really great.

Saint Paul's Cathedral

I love St. Paul's (and anyone who ever watched "Mary Poppins" will remember it. However, I will suggest that you check to see if it will be closed on the day you want to visit (they hold special events all the time). I also suggest that you head over there when there will be a service. If you go to worship or observe the service, you won't have to pay the steep admission fee and most of the time you can spend time afterward looking around. Another suggestion...if you're scared of heights or don't do small spaces (spiral staircases) DON'T GO UP TO THE GALLERIES OR DOME!!!

This movie theater (or theatre in England) is actually really great. It is definitely cheap, especially considering the prices around London. Just to give you an idea, fo a regular price adult, it is 5 pounds for a movie ticket (children, students, etc. are cheaper), whereas in other theaters across London, it can be upwards of 15 pounds for an adult ticket. It may not be the best theater or the largest, but it is certainly the best choice if you want to visit on a budget. I know my friends and I went almost every week because it was so cheap.

Bahia Honda State Park

Essentially, the park occupies almost the entire key. The beach there was great though and if you like to snorkel, there are plenty of things to see (you can rent them from the park if you don't have your own). If you can, I suggest sticking around until sunset (when the park closes) as it is gorgeous at that time. All in all, fun can be had by the entire family if you want to make a day of it.

White Cliffs of Dover

The White Cliffs of Dover are very interesting and the best view (as long as it's a clear day) is from the harbor...take one of the harbor tours and see the entire area from the water. They only last about an hour, so you have plenty of time to see other things if you wish.

Statue of Liberty

I love the Statue of Liberty and I think that everyone should go see it. I would suggest that people book the ferry ahead of time because (and this is especially true during the summer) it can become quite packed and they only allow a certain number of people per day, so it is better to make sure you have tickets than to go and find out you can't buy anything. If you don't want to take the trip out to the island and just want pictures, check out The Beast Speedboat tours. They are incredibly fun and you get to see the entire harbor (just make sure it's not too windy out, and also you might get a little wet)

This place is fantastic and I suggest everyone go there if you're in Florence. However, you might want to save it for later if you're going to either the Uffizi Gallery or the The Accademia Gallery because those places generally have long lines even during late morning.

Peter Pan Statue in Hyde Park

I personally love this statue! The best part is that if you or your family ever read the Peter Pan books, you will know that Peter went to live in Kensington Gardens after leaving the home of his parents. There, he had adventures on the Serpentine and you can see many of the places that are mentioned in the works. Barrie's house is also right near the Gardens if you know where to look. I suggest attempting to go when there aren't many children around since this statue is a favorite and children can normally be found crawling all over it, making it impossible to get a good look or take a decent picture.

Winter Carnival

From what I remember of it, the event began (it's about a week and a half long) in February and started with the crowning of a king and queen, but there were also races and parades taking place, plenty of games and the Ice Palace (you guessed it...a palace made of ice). Overall, it was pretty cool (but kids will remember the Palace and the mascot...a snowy owl).
