To be with people and to be with my friends is the most important in my life. That's why I chose my profession. I always wanted to be doctor, and I was always interested in the others's thoughts, specifically kids' thoughts, so I became a child psychiatrist. I love my job (I'm so lucky! :o), and if I could help them to live their life easier, I feel I do something. Travel ScorecardCountries See cities Map Loading! Dance! Lights! Party time for party people! ![]() Zamardi, Transdanubia Region, Hungary ![]() Added Jul 10, 2011 It's the best choice if you go to Balaton Sound. Only 10 minutes walk and clean, and 50m the Balaton. Great! ![]() Doolin, County Clare, Ireland ![]() Added Dec 27, 2009 It's quite close to the 1st sight (Cliffs of Moher) of Ireland. It looks good (I like the big stones in the buildings). We tried to find the cheapest accommodation, and we found it, and we pleased with it. ![]() Cork, County Cork, Ireland ![]() Added Dec 27, 2009 When I was in Cork I stayed here. It was great...and the most important for me: according to my purse it was OK! I just can offer it! ![]() Donegal, County Donegal, Ireland ![]() Added Dec 27, 2009 This is Ireland's most Northely point. It's Inishowen Penisula. Our accommodation was in Sandrock Holiday Hostel, and we walked here. I don't know exactly the way...maybe 1 hour, but it's not too hard. But the view from this point! Just the endless sea, the typical Irish rocks and wind . Wonderful! ![]() Donegal, Pennsylvania, United States ![]() Added Dec 27, 2009 It was our best accommodation in our Irish trip. Friendly, nice (very nice: the common place, I could imagine this style at home, too). And the area! The most northern point in Ireland just a little trip, and I saw how a dog shepherded the the cows. I hope 1 day I could go back. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Nov 12, 2009 The Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna is marvellous. Some rooms dedicated to just one artist. But my fevourite was the Egypt collection! - papyrus, amulets, sarcophagus, mummies. It would take half a day. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Nov 12, 2009 I enjoyed it sooo much, becasue 1 of my favourite painter is Klimt. The permanent exhibition and periodical one (for example till 01/18/2010 there is Munch exhibition) are both nice, if you like modern art, you must see. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Nov 12, 2009 I think MuseumsQuartier is the best part of Vienna. This museum komplex is show the modern and classical art also in 60,000 m² . ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Nov 11, 2009 If you like your stomach, you will like this place too. Big, fresh, mature fruits and vegetable. The hundreds and hundreds nut and cheese, and...... dried fruits. I'd like to start eating there and I think I can't stop till minimum 1 month....And how nice they put them! And between an apple and a dragon fruit just drink a coffee. If you like the antique and bric-a-brac, you will like this place too. You find here old boots, silver spoon and broken watch. If you are a collector or just want to buy some nice into your home, it's your place. And it's in the middle of the city. And did you know it's 1,5 km long? :o) ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Nov 11, 2009 It's very interesting place, not just because of the cathedral. This place is full of tourists and street performers. Drawers, luftballon and moving statues. I liked it,but t's true I didn't miss on a wonderful house the sign of the most common fast food restaurant. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Nov 11, 2009 It's a nice evening to walk along this 'street'. 'Street', because it's sooooo loooong. Places were you can do shopping and eat. I'm so interested in winter how looks like. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Nov 11, 2009 Take the tour of the catacombs underneath the church. There is a little waiting, Unfortunately we couldn't go closer to the altar, it's not public area. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Nov 10, 2009 It's a "must see" in Vienna. It has no straight lines or surfaces, completely asymetrical, and even so harmonic. ![]() Osaka, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 10, 2009 I just went to the Summer Sonic in Osaka, and on the way I saw this building. It was a big surprise I didn't know Hundertwasser worked outside Europe. ![]() Tokyo, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 10, 2009 OK OK! It' a huge town...but the track net! It's amazing! 13 lines metro lines and 6 JR lines. I can't show them in 1 pic. It appears difficult, but easy to use. Each line has a color and a number and each station also has a number. If you have JR pass you can go almost anywhere in the city. And they always stand in row, to get on the train. If you feel lost just ask an employee of the metro. They answer in 1 minute! The schedule in their head! :o))) ![]() Tokyo, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 10, 2009 Coooool! It was great to travel by Shinkansen. I felt in an airplane. It's fast, comfortable, nice.....and once they showed the speed: 288km/h. But we couldn't feel it. Amazing! Every shinkansen has a fantasy name. The fastest: Nozomi. Unfortunately the Japan Rail Pass doesn't valid for this...but we had were lucky. Our train was cancelled, and we got ticket for the next train, and it was Nozomi. But there wasn't any difference. I don't write the other's name, there are some, but you can read here: guide.com/e/e2018.html-http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2018.html . Most shinkansen and limited express trains carry non-reserved (jiyu-seki) and reserved (shitei-seki) seats, while a few carry reserved seats only. Seats in green cars are often all reserved. On most local, rapid and express trains all seats are non-reserved. Seat reservations cost roughly 300 to 700 yen, but are free with the Japan Rail Pass (Just go to the ticket office, show your JR pass and the train number and departure, and say: reserved ticket. :o) You get it immediately. . ![]() Akashi, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 10, 2009 This is with a length of almost four kilometers the world's longest suspension bridge. I met with it more times mostly when I traveled by shinkansen. Just be attention between nearby Himeji. ![]() Japan ![]() Added Nov 8, 2009 I like this shrine so much. Thy kept the original face of the shrine, it's so simple and rich together. Moreover from here, after praying for steadiness and power you can start your long trip to the top. ![]() Kobe, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 7, 2009 This is the entertainment side of the city. But it's quite empty. It isn't an adrenalin bomb. ![]() Kobe, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 7, 2009 I didn't like it so much. I think this tower isn't special nice, and the town neither. Finally I didn't see the view from the top. Not extreme modern, but modern. But the Earthquake Memorial is a great idea to remember of the time. But at night it worth so visit. 'Cause the shapes and colours are appear. ![]() Kobe, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 7, 2009 It wasn't the most impressive city in my life, so finally I decided I didn't go up into the tower. I think I don't miss to much. ![]() Miyajima, Chūgoku Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 7, 2009 The pagoda in determinate the area with its deep orange colour and 5 storeys (pproximately 28 meters high). Senjokaku is the popular name of Hokoku Shrine. Senjokaku, which literary means "Hall of a thousand mats", actually covers floor space equivalent to 857 tatami mats. It's old, and I like the old wooden buildings, but it's quite empty. Just look around and go up to the hill. :o) ![]() Miyajima, Chūgoku Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 7, 2009 You can walk on the Mt Misen like a snake up&down&right&left. And huh: here's a temple..here's a stream....a bridge..a toriii....You can walk up or go by cable-car (Ropeway). It could be a 2 hours walking...just slowly..slowly. ENjoy the view (if the weather is clear). ![]() Miyajima, Chūgoku Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 7, 2009 We were walking on Mt. Misen more than 1,5 hours when we reached this temple. I found there many interesting details. The stairs with prayer wheel, tiny sculptures, cooper, wooden, stone, stairs, roof, column...I couldn't know where did I look. ![]() Kerekes M. commented... Added Nov 7, 2009 Just keep writing, just keep writing, I`ll keep reading. :) ![]() Japan ![]() Added Nov 7, 2009 I like this habit, it's so nice and positive. Otherwise it's a roly-poly toys: they return to the upright position after being tilted to one side.tilted to one side. ![]() Japan ![]() Added Nov 7, 2009 You can find everywhere Maneki Neko. The meanings and significance of the different colors and poses of fortune cat figurines neko-types.html-http://www.namaii.com/manekineko/maneki-neko-types.html ![]() Kyoto, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 7, 2009 I lost in the labyrinth of Fushimi Inari-Taisha and I found this temple. The colossal 22m high San-mon Gate is the largest Zen temple gate in Japan. It was built in 1425 and entirely disassembled, repaired and reconstructed from 1969 to 1978 at the cost of 2,5 million dollar. Walking around the complex of Tofuku-ji is free, although the gardens and Tsuten-kyo (通天橋 "Bridge to Heaven") require an entrance fee. The beautiful zen gardens are definitely worth the ¥300 admission. Tofukuji has 2 attractions in my opinion - the Sanmon that is one of the top 3 in Kyoto, as well as its garden full of maple trees. Note that two other nearby bridges can be crossed for free. The first one is where most visitors come from, but the entrance to the second is hidden behind the Abbot's Hall. ![]() Ban Dondet, Laos ![]() Added Nov 6, 2009 Don det is 1 island of the 4000 islands in Laos. :o) I spent 2 nights there in a wooden bungallo. We were looking around some islands by bicycle, visit a waterfall (Liphee waterfall). It was the island of the peace!:o))) And we rented a kayak, a guide led us down and up on the river. After I knew I had arm! :o) Take care, after 10 pm, there's no light! The sunset is amazing here! ![]() Shimabara, Kyushu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 6, 2009 Every castle a little bit different like the others. It's true there's nicer, bigger castle in Japan, but this is a tiny kind one. But my favourite was the moat around the castle. The iris flowers in spring and the lotus in summer are especially splendid. ![]() Shimabara, Kyushu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 6, 2009 See above. :o) Just 1 more info: it's real half an hour. And nobody comes after you, you have to finish it, anyway. ![]() Shimabara, Kyushu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 6, 2009 After the Shimabara castle this is the next attraction what must see. But maybe you can't miss it, because it's on the streets. :o) ![]() Kumamoto, Kyushu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 6, 2009 It was renovated in 2007. Since everything in Japanese traditional buildings is made of highly flamable materials (wood, rice paper and straw tatami mats). Among others you find here: originally kitchen, Shokun room with gold wall (!), main part of the building is taken up by a super long O-Hiroma reception hall. There's a full virtural reality tour available here : http://www.manyou-kumamoto.jp/users/goten/goten.html ![]() Kumamoto, Kyushu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 5, 2009 It's one of Japan's finest garden. We may recognize the miniature Mount Fuji and Lake Biwa (in the shape of the instrument) easily. It was raining when I've been there, but this weather just made it 'more green': the tress, grass, moss...fantastic colorful view. ![]() Kumamoto, Kyushu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 5, 2009 It was the place what I was interested in the most in my trip, but the weather detroyed my plan. I couldn't see anything about the mountains. We decided we climb it despite the fog and rain to feel/know we are on an active volcano, but finally it impossible. The pics show a wonderful place so I have to go back! ![]() Kumamoto, Kyushu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 5, 2009 Sometimes called the Castle of Ginkgo Trees. You can walk up 3 levels, 6 floors.... and loo out from every small window. And I liked the model of the original structure of the castle's wood framing. After the castle don't forget to visit Kawagoe Castle Honmaru Goten. Fantastic! ![]() Tokyo, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 5, 2009 I liked it at daytime, I like the shape of this kind of bridge. But for me the lightly, colorful style was tooo cheeesy for me. ![]() Tokyo, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 5, 2009 It's a big mostly rock festival. I've been in Osaka, and most of the bands were Japanese or unknown international for me. There were 6 stages, some food stand ( I couldn't buy coffee! :o) ,place for the tents. Nothing more. I prefer the festival with richer programs. ![]() Nikko, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 4, 2009 It was the first Japanese garden I saw...and I think I began with a good one. You can see here: lake, path, moss, little bridge, tress, little statues, bushes, shine and shadow...and gardener. ![]() Japan ![]() Added Nov 4, 2009 I can't decide I give 1 star or 5. Because this game is the most unbelievable game I've ever seen in my life. No meaning (don't say it has :o) , lot of money, not interesting (I think)...but many Japanese people play it every night, and just watching this board....like they would be hypnotized. Moreover the place is extremely loud (trance or something else electric music) and smoky. I really don't understand why they play this. I was just standing there and wondering. :o) ![]() Takayama, Chūbu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 4, 2009 Maybe nothing special, just I liked soooo much those 2 statues on the bridge. I like the modern Japanese art ,they are so talented and brave, to make....to think new. ![]() Takayama, Chūbu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 4, 2009 Walking among the dark brown wooden Old Private Houses was fantastic. It was good to fell the atmospehere of the shops, coffee houses and sake breweries. And the red rickshaws in the brown. ![]() Hiroshima, Chūgoku Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 4, 2009 It was good to be here. The stuff is nice, the kitchen is clean, the internet access in OK, so on. And it's close to the Memorial Park. ![]() Takayama, Chūbu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 4, 2009 If you are interested in a Japanese traditional house visit Kusakabe mingeikan. Old furnitures, old type kitchen, so on. ![]() Takayama, Chūbu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 4, 2009 Finally I couldn't be in Takayama during the festival I could see the floats in this exhibition hall. colorfully decorated with carvings, hanging lanterns, and sometimes marionettes, floats are as high as 6.9m (23 ft.) and are mounted on wheels. And they give a tape guide, and you can listen the history, events, habits and more. ![]() Paris, Ile-de-France, France ![]() Added Nov 3, 2009 For me it wasn't as special as I thought. A nice long road, but crowdy. And I found muck more beautiful part of this city. ![]() Japan ![]() Added Nov 3, 2009 Soft drinks, juice, vitamin or energy drinks, tea and coffee for a reasonable 100 to 150 yen. It makes my trip easier. ![]() Nagoya, Chūbu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 3, 2009 Outside of Nagoya there's the Toyota City. A car factory, and it's possible to visit. Tours are held once daily from Monday to Friday in English and Japanese. If you wish to join a tour, you need to make an advance reservation via the internet ( https://www.toyota.co.jp/service/planttour/reservation/?lng=en ) or by phone. Tours last approximately two hours and are free of charge. Special opportunity. ![]() Nagoya, Chūbu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 3, 2009 1 of the best museum I've ever been. I spent there 3 hours, but it wasn't enough. We can see here a real steam engine (with a massive flywheel measuring 4.7meters in diameter), and Textile machinery Pavilion, because Toyota started his business with the cotton-spinning factory. You can see many-many machine how work. And if you speak Japanese the guides tell many interesting infos. (Unfortunately I can't speak, but I was so curious!). And the automobile pavilion. From the first Toyota car, till nowadays...and every small and bigger pieces of the car under power. And a real huge production equipment. And just some stuff about the huge collection. And in the end of the exhibition they show us the laws of the physics in fantastic way. Not just for kids. GO! TRY EVERYTHING! ENJOY IT! Nuridsany Z. commented... Added Nov 7, 2009 Holy moly you`re one tough cookie! ![]() Ise, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 3, 2009 The water, the rocks, the big rope, and the way to come here. I liked the small torii gate and the cormorant liked birds. And imagine! The rope weighs over a ton. It's replaced several times a year in a special ceremony. ![]() Ise, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 3, 2009 I really liked Geku shrine complex. Lake, forest, path....the shrine's shapes are clear-out. You can see turtle in the lake, priest who prays. ![]() Kyoto, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 3, 2009 The top of the modern architect. When the iron and the glass meet in an interesting way in high above us. ![]() Kyoto, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 3, 2009 The place of the peace. I was just sitting and saw the rock and the with sand. 'Like the waves of the sea in the light of the moon.' Unfortunately till 2010 February it's renovating, so I couldn't see all of its beauties. ![]() Kyoto, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 3, 2009 The market runs for about 400 meters, or many city blocks. Pickles and fish: most of all. Buy something or just walking around, both is OK. ![]() Kyoto, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 3, 2009 It's amazing! Just walking up and down. And among the torii gates. It's especially good it's shining, then you can see the colour and the shape of these in the forest. I got lost, but usually it doesn't happen...just I like the unknown path...but finally I found another shrine. :o) ![]() Kyoto, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 2, 2009 The 1. was established in 1923. The spacious, communal bathing area has been renovated, but the changing rooms still have their original wood-relief ceiling. You can find here outdoor bath, sauna, cypress-wood tub, herbal bath...and my favourite is the electric bath. But here in the shower there wasn't soap, so you have to bring your own. ![]() Kyoto, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 2, 2009 I wasn't lucky. I hasn't see geisha. But the river, just walking along. Calm and magical. ![]() Kyoto, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 2, 2009 I wasn't lucky, 'cause the main building of Ginkakuji is currently being renovated and covered by a scaffold. Works are scheduled to be completed by spring 2010. But I like in the garden meticulously raked cones of white sand, it's symbolic of a mountain (Fuji?) and a lake. Making it could be a game with patience. ![]() Matsumoto, Chūbu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 2, 2009 The black castle and the red bridge. Majestic. This is the second biggest castle in Japan. Every small piece is wonderful. ![]() Matsumoto, Chūbu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 1, 2009 A very nice old-japanese style guest house. The father is the owner, and his son is the chef. It's a family undertaking. The building is wonderful, with the big wooden beams! And it's next to a rice field and a small river. Peaceful peace. And you can find nearby a glass museum and a wasabi field. ![]() Matsumoto, Chūbu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 1, 2009 It was good to know how the wasabi grows. The green leaves are just sitting in the water. Known as "Japanese horseradish", its root is used as a spice and has an extremely strong flavour. It's free to taste it in the shop of the farm....AAA I thought my eyes jumped 2 meters! But it's only 4 seconds, and after everybody days: I want it again! You have to try it! ![]() Matsumoto, Chūbu Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 1, 2009 It was really cool! The museum was quiet small, but the shop is much more bigger. The glass stuff are beautiful, and the best: if you have time you can make some stuff in the workshop. ![]() Yokohama, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 1, 2009 It was the most delicious ice cream what I've ever eaten! But in the evening I couldn't take nice pics, because in the building there is a shop and a restaurant, and the windows were reflecting the lights. ![]() Tokyo, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 1, 2009 You can find here everything what is electric stuff. Crowd, busy, loud, shiny... ![]() Tokyo, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 1, 2009 It's fun! That's all. ![]() Nikko, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 1, 2009 Here I could feel how ancient the Japanese culture. Old trees. Old wooden temples. And if you are lucky: you catch a traditional wedding. ![]() Koyasan, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 1, 2009 It was my favourite place in Japan. I like to feel the more hundreds years memories in the air. I like the stone graves with moss on them, under the 20 meters trees. You can follow the path or just walking around the hill to find the most peaceful point. I offer the dawn, when the sun is rising and there aren't many people around. Just you, the stones, the trees, and the faith. ![]() Koyasan, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 1, 2009 Koyasan is a tiny place but big religious village. IT worths to spend here a day to visit the shrines, temples, but the most important is the Okunoin Cemetery, where among the huge trees you can find around 500.000 tombs. At the end of the path (maybe a fifteen minute walk) is the main temple complex, where there is a room of lanterns, some of which have been burning for over nine hundred years. Behind the temple is the closed-off pagoda mausoleum of the enlightened monk. A peaceful place. ![]() Yokohama, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 1, 2009 Minato Mirai 21 is a seaside urban area in central Yokohama whose name means "harbor of the future". It has many large high-rises, including Japan's tallest building, the Landmark Tower. Until the 1980s the area was a large shipyard, but the shipyard moved and development began for a new city center. And here is the biggest chinatown in Japan. But for me this place didn't give to much fun. Not especially nice, not especially chinese, not especially amusement park. If you have better event, don't visit. ![]() Yokohama, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Nov 1, 2009 This is an amusement park with a Ferris gaining in public favor, which is one of the largest Ferris wheels in the world, with a capacity of 480 passengers and a height of 112.5 meters. It was really cool, and we enjoyed the view from the top minimum 15 minutes. But it almost was empty. I think the people are looking for better...more exciting amusement. Maybe it's true, it's a little bit old. ![]() Yokohama, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 31, 2009 A small china in the middle of Japan. Real Chinese colour patterns, architecture, foods. But next time I don't think I would visit there again. ![]() Himeji, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 31, 2009 My favourite castle in Japan. The white giant with graceful tiles. You can see here many very interesting animals: gorilla, sumatran tiger, kakadu, and 'I don't know the name' frogs, birds... now it's home to over 2600 animals from 464 different species. The world is a wonder, and I think the animals is the most fantastic in it. ![]() Tokyo, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 31, 2009 Crowd. Shopping. Modern. Ultramodern. High. You can buy here everything: socks with bow, Winnie the Pooh earphones...from the clothes to the high-tech electric stuff. It's extremely shiny. If you like the silence, and the peaceful places don't go here! :o))) ![]() Fuji, Chūbu Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 31, 2009 July and August are the official climbing season. In the other months it's free to climb but you don't find accommodations, you can't buy food or water. Most of the visitors climb form the 5th station. You can reach it by public transport. But if you want to climb the whole mountain it's OK from the bottom, just the altitude is more. The weather is bad --> you can'T see the amazing view, and don't be upset if you see: it's extremely dirty! Garbage everywhere. By take care: Altitude Sickness. So if you aren't tough, just do it slowly. Have a nice climb! ![]() Miyajima, Chūgoku Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 30, 2009 Like a floating labyrinth. If you like to take photos, you can find here some very good pieces. This deep orange on the water...Wonderful! ![]() Hiroshima, Chūgoku Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 29, 2009 It's a very impressive place. My heart stopped, I couldn't breath. The human brutality is endless. So this museum gives back these days' happening very genuinely...or not? It was worth? I really don't want to know! ![]() Himeji, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Aug 27, 2009 I think this is the most impressive castle in Japan. Huge and white, you can see it from far. It's a small labirynth, you can walk a lot in the garden and in the building. You have to visit it, if it's only a quick stop in Himeji (only 10 minutes walk from the station). ![]() Hiroshima, Chūgoku Region, Japan ![]() Added Aug 26, 2009 1 of the most impressive place in Japan. It's true the torii gate is wonderful, you can see it far from the sea, but it's more. You can spend there more than a day, just walking, and walking, up and down the hill, and streets. Fun: In the day the deer wander around the same sites as the tourist. Don't miss: The shrine's halls and pathways on stilts. But it wasn't the best collection I've ever saw. ![]() Don Khong, Laos ![]() Added May 24, 2009 I stayed on Don Det, these two small islands connected to each other by a bridge. There should be a dozen new guesthouses. Electricity outside the rooms usually run from 6pm to 10pm only. The main attractions: The Liphee waterfall is a sight so see -- a roaring collection of powerful falls spilling down at odd angles along a branch of the characteristically coffee-coloured Mekong river. To get here, take the first right after the French Bridge and follow the signs -- it's bikable and walkable. If you haven't paid the 9,000 kip admission fee at the gate, you'll have to pay it here, but your ticket will be good for the whole day. To the right of the road that leads off the bridge, an old steam engine is on display with a sample bit of the small gauge track that was used to transport mostly teak wood down to the French port at the southern tip. ![]() Ban Dondet, Laos ![]() Added May 24, 2009 It's easy to fond accommodation on DonDet. And if you lay down on the edge of the rock you can feel the deep and experience how small we are! We went there by bycicle, it was a little bit steep, but we knew we reach it by ourself! This is the first. I tel you a story about it: Among the anecdotes relating to the bridge, the most popular is that the lions were sculpted without tongues and the sculptor was mocked so much that he jumped into the Danube in shame. The lions do have tongues (although they are not visible from below, which is the usual point of view, as the lions are lying on a stone block some three meters high). The sculptor lived into the 1890s, and the only message he sent to mocking people was "Your wife should have a tongue just as my lions have, and woe will be unto you!" Built on the orders of Jozef Stalin, the towers were constructed for the glorification of the Soviet State after WWII, and were intended to rival the USA’s skyscrapers that had gone up in the 30s. Each Sister was designed according to Stalin’s specifications, in a so-called ‘wedding-cake’ style, that concentrated the eye towards a central tower. It is a diving location on east Sinai, a few kilometres north of Dahab, Egypt on the coast of the Red Sea. ![]() Balatonfured, Transdanubia Region, Hungary ![]() Added Apr 6, 2009 It looks like a tiny village in Toscana! Last year when I rided there I was shocked how nice it was! ![]() Goreme, Central Anatolia, Turkey ![]() Added Aug 12, 2008 The most peaceful place inthe world (where I've ever been). It's in the edge of Mustafapasha village. And this village is a pearl in Kappadokia. So this valley has an owner, an old man who cleans it, and who brings water there every day. And he decorated this place with traditional stuff all around the wall. If you go there you can find nobody usually, just sit and drink a cup of tea and eat fruit (apricot) from the tree of the valley. And you leave as much as money you think. 1 word: PEACE. ![]() Oludeniz Fethiye, Aegean Region, Turkey ![]() Added Aug 12, 2008 Have you seen the Beach movie? This place is very similar. (without guns :o) Beach and peace and sand and butterflies (in spring), backpackers staying at tree-house or tent or under the clear sky. An delicious vegetarian food. What else? :o))) Direction: From fethiye take a minibus at 07:00 (this minibus is only 3-4 times a day). it takes about 1 hour and you reach the top of the valley. there's very nice place there called George House. You have breakfast there (very nice, organic food) and go down to the valley later on around noon. it's about 20 minutes to go down, a little bit difficult (especially with big backpack) but still ok if you are carefull. many people are going up and down everyday. i'll stay down in the valley just by the sea until sunday evening and go up again, have dinner and go back to Fethiye to catch my bus back to izmir which is around 23:30 or 24:00. down in the valley, you can sleep outside on the beach with sleeping bag or with the free blankets that they give from there. there are also small wooden houses, platforms etc. to sleep on. other way to go to the valley is by boat from Oludeniz but the earliest one is at 11:00, i want to go earlier that's why i prefer taking the minibus and going up (and to have nice breakfast). we can meet in fethiye early in the morning on saturday (just before 07:00) and go by the minibus together, if it will suit you. that's it. ![]() Yerevan, Central Armenia, Armenia ![]() Added Aug 12, 2008 Mountain, huge wonderful BASALT COLOUMNS When I had to miss the Giant's causeway I feltI I missed something.
