Was going to skip this at first feeling a little silly about it. Then I though maybe I would add something about fighting the hookers to get to my room in Moscow or fighting them to cross the streets at night in Saigon but decided something fun and different was probably more appropriate.
I encountered The Ark (they do have a website, I remember visiting it) is akin to a reverse zoo while on Safari. It is a "hotel", but a very very basic one which one visits while on Safari in Kenya. It has multiple viewing decks overlooking a small lake and salt lick with a bonus view of Mt. Kenya in the distance. The people are locked in for the night and can view the animals from either glassed in relaxing public area's or from outside decks. You can either stay up all night or sleep on the cot in your room and set the bell to be awoken when one of the "big five" stop to take a drink.
While there we saw water buffalo, elephants, hyena's, warthogs, rhino and a variety of other wildlife drinking and interacting. Just a quick reminder though, some wild animals do indeed climb and if your out on the pitch black deck at 3:00 a.m. and you hear noises on the deck, don't assume someone has come out to join you, it can be very disconcerting to find out your not alone but that your company isn't human.
