Hey there I'm Sara, although I havent traveled much, I pretty much refuse to die until I've experienced everything this world has to offer. I'm currently in school, and am saving up for a Southeast Asian Adventure in (hopefully) Oct '09
My Family and I just drove by this place and decided to stop. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip. HUGE tortises, that roam a path freely. Pythons in open cages, nothing is behind glass here! They even pull out the snakes and lizards for groups to see and even touch. They have aligators and put on a really cool show with them. Definately a spot to go and be scared/entertained!
I absoloutley LOVE marla's the lunch buffet is the way to go, because you can try so many different delicous foods. The owners are very warm and the food is authentic and full of flavor.
I love the Como Zoo and prefer it to the Minnesota State Zoo. First off it's free and has a wider range of animals. Wolves, giraffes, elephants, Bison, Zebra's, Seals, big cats, apes, and tons more. If you go in the summer, there are little stands all throughout the park with workers holding animals up close. This zoo even has a small amusement park located right inside! If you love animals this is a great site.
This is definately something you want to experience if you're in the area. A HUGE open air market, full of everything, including rows upon rows of gorgeous fabric. However this is not the best place to purchase fabric, if you are Obruni (white) The prices will be jacked WAY up. Try smaller shops on the edge of the market. Good prices range from 3-5 GHC per yard, but you can get it as cheap at 1-1.50 GHC
This is a very emotional experience, and would not be sutible for young children. The museum is followed on a chronological walk through the beginning and end of the holocaust. Simple things, like HUGE piles of shoes, or combs that were collected from the victims who were taken. Pictures by kids in camps, real rail cars that the people were carried away in, and at the end, videos from survivors. The end was very moving, and especially seeing around you, others affected by the museum. Definately a must see for every adult.
The Campground here is amazing, you cant tent there or stay in these adorable little cottages, complete with fireplace. Along the drive, there are wild donkeys on the roads, and you can even get out to pet/feed them. There are tons of buffalo around, as well as mountin goats! Trail rides are offered and I would recommend it. We went on a 2 hour ride, and the scenery is beautiful.
I remember seeing this on the way to Custer State park and it was astonishing. Really a treat to see, we stopped and climbed up some of the smaller formations and had a great view of the wooded hills of south dakota
If you've taken any Art history classes, or love Architecture, you should definately see the Kolner Dom. It's the largest Cathedral in Northern Europe and is the epitome of the Gothic stlye. Admission is free unless you want to climb 509 steps up a spiral staircase to a viewing platform, which is totally worth the climb.
I loved the Aquarium in Chicago, first off it's HUGE and has everything you could imagine from lake/river fish to Deep sea squid, jellyfish, dolphins, and baluga whales! It's a great family attraction, and the location also has a great view!
This place is ABSOLOUTELY AMAZING! It's nothing you could imagine and even harder to explain. the best way I can is this...It's like walking into a surrealist painting, one you can climb and explore and in this "museum" there are no ropes you cant cross.
If you're in Kumasi, this is the hot spot for westerners. It boasts tons of food options both ghanaian and western or even italian or chinese. The staff doubles as tour guides and often arrange differnt tours for visitors to the cafe. Also the location is perfect, with a Barclay bank and a supermarket just down the block!
