Page 1 of 10 My Reviews![]() Rome, Lazio Region, Italy ![]() Added Sep 19, 2011 It's huge, it's imposing, but on the inside is largely unumpressive, the main reason being that the seats of the spectators are completely missing. It would be nice if they had at least reconstructed a few, just for historicity's sake. Still, you can sense the passage of time and imagine slaves being dragged around and crowds cheering. It's just, that it could have been so much more. (And the LENGTHY queues to get inside, don't actually help). ![]() Nisos Ikaria, Northern Aegean Islands, Greece ![]() Added Mar 27, 2010 A great place for camping (though forbidden for ages, it does not seem to be enforced).. and one of the best sunsets of Greece. Highly recommended. ![]() Vilnius, Dzūkija (Southeastern Lithuania), Lithuania ![]() Added Nov 4, 2009 The Square by itself is nothing big... A column, a statue, the cathedral (of course) and lots of street artists. It can be used as a meeting or starting point for a walk around the old town, but that's that... ![]() Kaunas, Sūduva or Suvalkija (Southern Lithuania), Lithuania ![]() Added Nov 4, 2009 A "lovely small old town". Nothing big to see: a run down castle, a nice Gothic church and the old buildings along the riverside, then anything that is around the old main square and the main street that leads there. It's all nice and cozy, but don't expect anything mind blowing. ![]() Trakai, Dzūkija (Southeastern Lithuania), Lithuania ![]() Added Nov 4, 2009 Trakai castle is simply wonderful!! A fully preserved (rebuilt) medieval castle, that hosts a cute little museum on Lithuanian history, with some interactive consoles too. Just for the view alone, it is worth the visit! Don't forget to eat traditional Karaites food at the restaurants around the lake! ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Apr 29, 2009 One of the better known ancient world monuments, lives up to its name providing enough of history and views to satisfy everyone. Easy access, relatively cheap plus there is now a modern museum with all the exhibits (still under partial construction as far as i know). If you are in Athens, can't miss it!! ![]() Macau ![]() Added Jan 18, 2009 One of the most luxurious Casinos in Macau, IMHO. The security at the entrance is really strict, but you can't blame them with all the wealth inside! ![]() Macau, Macau ![]() Added Jan 18, 2009 Extremely friendly people, as luxurious as any other Casino in Macau... if you are arriving by boat from HK, you cannot miss it, it's just behind the fake volcano!! ![]() Tai O, Hong Kong (SAR) ![]() Added Jan 2, 2009 It is called "Good View Restaurant" but there is actualy NO view... the food is decent Chinese food and people who run it don't speak English... Still, many locals seem to prefer it and it is quite cheap and fresh food.... Recommended for people who are not afraid :-) ![]() Shanghai, Shanghai Province, China ![]() Added Dec 30, 2008 Nanjing Road is much more than the (for Chinese Standards) small "Shopping Street" part. It is one of the biggest roads in Shanghai and walking from one part of it to the other, (around 2 or 3 hours give or take) will make you pass from neon lights to dodgy neighbourhoods to parks and skyscrapers.... really worth it. ![]() Shanghai, Shanghai Province, China ![]() Added Dec 30, 2008 Beautiful walk through squares, old buildings (that house modern Starbucks but this is quite another story), beautiful small alleys and gardens with ponds... Only drawbacks: it is too short a ride and too crowded... Still it is "BEAUTIFUL"! ![]() Kato Sounion, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 Quite an impressive little temple, esp. at night. The spot is perfect for sunset seeing. Also watch out for the "Famous Grouse birds" (don't know the name in English, sorry). ![]() Nafplion, Western Greece, Ionian Islands & Peloponnese, Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 If you are up to it, you can climb to the Palamidi Castle through these 999 steps. Mind, there are no luxuries and only few places to rest (larger steps) so pack lots battles of water and (if needed) food. I personally think it is worth the trouble and it makes for a far better experience than the castle itself. ![]() Olympiaki Akti, Northern Greece, Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 The ancient theatre with the great acoustics is the most prominent monument, as only ruins to the ground were left from the site of the ancient Olympic Games. Worth a visit if you are into ancient monuments and sites. ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 It's the Rock (Hill) on which Parthenon was built... it makes for a nice walk around it, especially at D. Areopagitou Street (get off at ACROPOLIS metro station). ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 Used to be the fancy winter entertainment spot of Athens until 2008 (where Keramikos/Votanikos took over). Still, many taverns, cafes and clubs are still here and a bit less crowded too ;) Since it also offers great views of the Acropolis and is next to Plaka and Monastiraki, it's perfect for a night's fun. ![]() Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 Great Views of Athens (actually the only place for views of the city), also sports a theatre where cool concerts happen regularly (the magic is that you can just sit around and listen, without having to pay) and also at the very top a church and restaurant. There also exists a cable car but is in the mountain (no views). So... it's only if you don't want to walk or pay for taxi. ![]() Korinthos, Western Greece, Ionian Islands & Peloponnese, Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 A small city next to Athens, sporting its own Acropolis and a garnd canal (like Panama's but much much smaller). Other than that, not much to do around here.... Still if you have nothing better to do, you can't go wrong for 1-day excursion from Athens. ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 A quite comprehensive gathering of ancient relics of Greece (it couldn't have been any other way). A bit small compared to Central European standards (Berlin and Vienna museums dwarf it) but still, it's the original and it is surprisingly well organised. Worth your visit! ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 The ancient stadium of Athens, the 1st modern Olympics were held here. Other than a memory spot, is only used for really grand occasions nowadays (Olympic winnners' ceremony, etc) ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 Beautiful view of the city (actually the only central hill of the city) and great concerts at the theatre on top of it!! Also, you can climb to the very top to the church and restaurant or just take the cable car (in the mountain, sadly no views) ![]() Thira, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 The volcano itself is a not so long walk through hot sand and rocks... seldom you can see a bit of smoke... and that's all.... the TRIP to get there though, is quite nice, with hot sea swims, etc... ![]() Delphi, Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 Of the most famous and well preserved chapels in Greece, its location, close to the ancient site of Delphi makes for an ideal excursion. Especially if you are into churches, this is one of the oldest preserved ones. ![]() Delphi, Greece ![]() Added Dec 11, 2008 One of the more well preserved ancient sites in Greece. Lots of culture to suck your teeth into, both at site and at the museum. Moreover, the outlying area is really beautiful in Spring, so you are advised to make your trip then! ![]() Tokyo, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Dec 8, 2008 Lots and lots of people, day and night.... ... shopping, shopping, shopping.... If shopping brands is your thing, this is paradise!!! If not... well, brand shopping brings in with it lots of entertainment options and lots of crowds too froim all walks of life (mostly the "trendy one" though) ![]() Greece ![]() Added Nov 10, 2008 A great island for couples! (and apparently chinese women that come here in groups of 4 or 5 usually). The sunset is not to be missed, while the beaches are top quality and have sth for all tastes (sand, rock, deep, shallow, etc). However, the only drawback is the abundance of "traditional" things and souvenir shops, that become a bit too much after some days. ![]() Parga, Northern Greece, Greece ![]() Added Nov 10, 2008 Beautiful but TOO crowded, to the point of being uncomfortable. ![]() Oia, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece ![]() Added Nov 10, 2008 Truly great to enjoy the Santorini Sunset! ![]() Thira, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece ![]() Added Nov 10, 2008 Perfect for couples !!! One of the most romantic spots in Greece... just not when it is overflowing :) ![]() Nisos Thira, Cyclades & Dodecanese, Greece ![]() Added Nov 10, 2008 Beautiful narrow alleys to walk around and of course the glorious sunset.... BUT too many "traditional" stuff around... to a degree that is becoming annoying. ![]() Qibao, Shanghai Province, China ![]() Added Nov 6, 2008 Of course not as grand and luxurious as the main Shanghai Ancient City, but the ancient city of Qibao offers a beautiful peek to Chinese Culture with some interesting (though VERY small) museums and nice quiet (so far) walks, without too much hassle from souvenir shops. ![]() Dachau, Bayern Region, Germany ![]() Added Nov 6, 2008 You should go there, even for just reminding yourself the horrors of human nature. There is also a quiet large museum with many exhibits about the rise and fall of such camps, that is worth seeing. And don't forget it is a part of recent European history and something we can all learn something from. Beware: there is not much left from the camp itself, just 2 or buildings and the fence. ![]() Nea Smirni, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Nov 4, 2008 A beautiful square with many cafe's, places to eat and clothes' shop, around it!! Large and spacious, right next to the tram station of the same name. ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Nov 3, 2008 Really nice, either to relax in the evening, or havea drink at night.... a nice place near downtown Athens. ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Oct 31, 2008 Only worth it for a sit if you are tired and when there is an event, IMHO. An ancient like stadium. ![]() Shanghai, Shanghai Province, China ![]() Added Oct 31, 2008 You can find almost everything here (including cinemas), but be aware of the scummers and pickpockets! (photos uploaded at "nanjing road" article) ![]() Shanghai, Shanghai Province, China ![]() Added Oct 31, 2008 It starts off the Bund, the first half is a pedestrianized shopping street, then it goes off as a car highway that crosses lots of differenet neighbourghoods. You can see both skyscrapers and poor rundown houses along it. Tip: Be careful on its first half, lots of scammers out for tourists! ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 31, 2008 What you would expect. Nothing more, nothing less. ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Oct 31, 2008 The pinnacle of the ancient city of Athens, the Acropolis Rock (or Hill) houses the Parthenon, one of the most respectable ancient monuments of humanity. If you are in Athens, it makes for a nice walk. ![]() T'ai-pei, Northern Taiwan, Taiwan ![]() Added Oct 31, 2008 Tallest building in the world (maybe not any more, but was when i visited in Summer 2008) and sure an experience not to miss. Great panoramic views of Taipei City and surrounding Hills! As it is reasonable priced be sure not to miss it if you like heights!! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 As Cornelia says, and be sure not to miss the video with the "Vienna Philarmonic New Year Concert Extracts". If you have never seen it before you should do yourself a favour and see it! PS: here is its official shop too. Best place to buy old CDs of their performances and rare stuff. Bit overpriced though ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 The Hofburg is very impressive and indeed there is much more to see here than you would think. Come prepared to spend some hours around its museums and halls! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 Grinzing is a gorgeous area at the outskirts of Vienna, packed with traditional Heurigen (wine houses), beauitful landscape and forests. Feel free to get off the bus and walk along the trees till you get to a beautifuil cafe overlooking the city with excellent panoramic view! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 The square (Platz) close to KarlsKirche is a place whose image is ruined by the presence of many drug addicts. Thankfully a strong police presence keeps them at bay, but you may want to avoid walking there around dusk... it can get quite messy, esp. when they fight with each other. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 A chain of restaurants when one can eat lots of food at quite reasonable (even cheap at times) prices! The name comes from the trend to order some dishes (bread for example) in centimeters than portions. Austrian name: Zentimeter ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 A neo-classical building, that puts to shame many such buildings in Greece (if I might say). Excellent structure and statues all around, didn't have a chance to go inside though. If you are a touist in Vienna you won't miss it anyway as it is on the RingStrasse (main tourist attraction road). ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 For me the most beautiful church in Vienna. A little gothic architecture diamond in the center of city, just besides the university! Unfortunately it was not open at a regular schedule when i was in Vienna. ![]() Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 One of the few English Cinemas in Vienna. Other than that, nothing of notice, ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 The Schoenbrunn zoo is huge and magnificent! Please be aware that to see every single animal it might take you a full 8 hours of walking around and admiring! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 The park inside Pratter is a relic of older times... if you enjoy such old-time rides you will have a good time, but as it is usually extremely crowded it is preferrable to just take a walk around the excellent Park (Pratter) that surrounds it. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 The Hofburg is a palace on the centre of Vienna. There are much more to see than meets the eye and you could easily spend many hours in its various museums and halls. Also be sure to walk around and marvel at the statues, etc. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 A great place for festivals and walks!! To the north of the city, traffic free ;) ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 To the north of the city, away from too much traffic and crowds, you can take a nice walk, and swim if you are brave enough ;) Very bicycle friendly area too!! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 A most beautiful and HUGE zoo... to see EVERYTHING a full 8 hours are needed!! So take care ;) ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 Really beautiful neo-gothic structure, both inside and outside! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 Mostly Shopping during the day, food and bars by night... your typical city centre avenue... ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 30, 2008 Impressive mall but otherwise a bit dull place, with not much to see or do... and very far away from the centre of city to top it... If you have lots of time you can come here for shopping... ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 27, 2008 A great sight, but not worth to go there only for it... you should really visit the palace and the gardens too!! (and the zoo) ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 27, 2008 Too yellow, otherwise a great place to visit with the whole family!! (includes a large zoo!) ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 27, 2008 Especially the forests around Grinzing are a treat!! Tryto walk around and even spot the cafeteria that overlooks Vienna (uploaded panorama but gecko-go must fix its photos algorithm) ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 27, 2008 Amazing!!! Don;'t forget to also climb the tower and go down the crypt! A really great grand cathedral!!! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 27, 2008 The plaza around St. Stephen's Cathedral is bustling with people usually, and street perfomers and carriages (just mind the smell of the horses :( ).... and lots of outrageously expensive souvenir shops and restaurants, but is nothing to brag about....in contrast to the church itself, which is awe-some! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 27, 2008 A museum complex (hence the name). Hosts many concerts and exhibitions, you might go to one of them, but otherwise i think it's no big deal... ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 27, 2008 It's not the best of the world, but it certainly is a large, mostly serene and beautiful park!!! Enjoy!! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 27, 2008 Really worth to go, even to admire the surrounding pedestrian street and exterior! Be warned though! It's not easy to go with public transport (at 2006 at least ti wasn't). Quite a lot of walking from nearest stop. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 27, 2008 Perfect for nice walks... fountains, trees, flowers... one of the best gardens in Europe! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 27, 2008 As palaces go it is quite fulfilling! A nice interior (but not kitsch or too extravagant), glorious gardens (great for a nice walk) and also various appendixes (greenhouses, museum, cooking exhibition) makes this schloss a MUST-GO~ for all the family!! Be aware of the gift shop, it can easily suck your wallet dry (Best for souvenirs in Vienna IMHO)! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 24, 2008 Sisi's summer villa is a small palace tucked away in the forest, mostly overlooked by many tourists which is a pity because it is a nice place to visit: mostly quiet, with trees all around, beautiful inside (uploaded a panorana of sisi's bedroom) and also sports a museum on the top floor. Try not to miss it! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 24, 2008 The summer palace is quite an impressive building comparable to the winter palace. (the photo i uploaded is wrong, it is from Sisi's summer palace, i flagged it myself) ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 24, 2008 Absolute pleasure to walk around, esp. when not crowded. As most parks in Vienna. Beautiful and with statues too... what else can i say? ![]() Starnberg, Bayern Region, Germany ![]() Added Oct 24, 2008 Not a great lake, but still tidy and beautiful and with a dock that is a pleasure to walk along. Also features a nice work of art (photo included) and lots of birds! ![]() Oxford, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 Spacious, beautiful, green, and old.... ![]() Kyoto, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 The Golden Pavillion IS beautiful and the route IS excellent, BUT it is packed with many tourists and you can only walk along a one-way route, negating the pleasure of discovery :( ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 A beautiful neo-gothic building. Try to be there at at a time when it is open to the public too and marvel the interior ![]() Tokyo, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 If you can, ignore the cosplayers (they are mostly there on Weekends anyway) and the trendy crowds and go to the marvelous Park!! Really worth your time! PS: for shopping freaks, this is the place for you ;) Full of trendy shops! ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 Not the biggest of museums, but taking the Greece scale into account is quite a mouthful and very beautifully renovated in recent years. Worth your time if you are into Religous art and not only ;) ![]() Oxford, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 Just what you'd expect from the Botanical Garden of one of the biggest capitals of Europe! Complete! ![]() Dresden, Saxony Region, Germany ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 Beautiful forests around the river Elbe. Nice for hiking andcycling! ![]() Nikko, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 Beautiful as most shrines in Nikko!! ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 A big mostly empty park. Can find some peace and quiet, but mostly it is too crowded and not too beautiful to begin with.... There are much better parks in London (just not as central and famous) ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 A big mostly empty park. Can find some peace and quiet, but mostly it is too crowded and not too beautiful to begin with.... There are much better parks in London (just not as central and famous) ![]() United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 Just a fancy mall... only the ground floor is worth it, with its vast amounts of food and sweets. Otherwise, there are better deals in my opinion. ![]() Dresden, Saxony Region, Germany ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 Quite modern and beautiful on the inside (the crypt that is a work of art) but excellent on the outside!! The main Church of Dresden, is a must-see. ![]() Berlin, Berlin Region, Germany ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 Quite a disappointment :-(... i really expected more than thin piece of it... If you don't have any specific interest in it, Berlin has much more to offer! ![]() Kyoto, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 An excellent hotel! I stayed there for 2 nights while in Kyoto and i didn't regret it! Around 50euros/night and totally worth it, plus it is in a rathe central spot, which is good for moving around!@ ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 I am not into modern art but many concerts and exhibitions are hosted in The MuseumsQuartier, so you should not miss out! ![]() T'ai-pei, Northern Taiwan, Taiwan ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 A quiet place a little off Taipei, nothing exceptional to see here. Just take nice morning strolls. ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 Another of London's markets... one more gem! ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 Great Food market!! Come get all your cheese-bread-meat supplies here with many surprises !! (just don't get upset by the dead animals) ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 An ancient temple and a cafe-bar hub plus nice pedestrian-only streets makes this a place to be, esp. during evening times! ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Oct 22, 2008 A very big and impressive catholic temple! Worth going if you are into churches and maybe even if you are not ;) ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Oct 20, 2008 A great small restaurant in the area around the small castle of Prague, ![]() Nea Erithraia, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Oct 20, 2008 A great place to eat Mexican cuisine in Athens! ![]() Athina, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Oct 20, 2008 The latest hip area in Athens. Better than the last one (Psyrrh) with bars for all tastes and lots of restaurants too! ![]() Amarousion, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Oct 20, 2008 The biggest (so far) Mall in Athens. Stage for a multitude of shops and restaurants. (A multi-cinema too) ![]() Mesolongion, Western Greece, Ionian Islands & Peloponnese, Greece ![]() Added Oct 20, 2008 The wall of the old city of Messolongi, stands as a reminder of the wars for freedom. Other than that, don't expect too much. It's only the remains of a wall after all. ![]() Berlin, Berlin Region, Germany ![]() Added Oct 20, 2008 Impressive monument with a deeper meaning and history. Other than that... if you are not inclined about such things... no need to pay a visit... You will be bored and unimpressed. If you are interested, it is one of the must-see in Belrin. ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 20, 2008 Mostly efficient and quite cool but old and claustrophobic...! ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 20, 2008 Seemed like a normal busy square to me.... Still quite nice at night. ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 20, 2008 Impressive at night.... splendidly busy during the day... and surrounded by lots of cinemas, theatres, etc... You will pass by here for sure if in London! ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 20, 2008 The beautiful gardens of the Schoenbrunn Palace... host to a multitude of buildings and greenhouses and sporting some great views and calm moments (when not lots and lots of tourists). ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Oct 20, 2008 Another beautiful bridge in Prague! ![]() Tokyo, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 20, 2008 It is over-rated. Really. Just a bunch of computer and electronic shops (and them not with the best of prices in Tokyo) and you may spot a cosplay-brochure-giver here and there.... Really not worth it for thedeki-gai. ![]() Bratislava, West Slovakia, Slovakia ![]() Added Oct 15, 2008 Recently rebuilt and still quite void and empty of stuff... just housing a beautiful but small museum. Still very cheap. I would recommend to go there only for the beautiful view (photo included) ![]() T'ai-pei, Northern Taiwan, Taiwan ![]() Added Oct 15, 2008 The tallest (or 2nd tallest now?) building in the world... has an amazing view over a dull city. But still, the feeling of being so high cannot be surpassed or easily described. If you are in Taipei you owe yourself a visit, even if you've been to other towers around the world! ![]() Fussen, Bayern Region, Germany ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 GORGEOUS! A castle out of fairy tales! Not only the castle, but the village and nature around it too. All is excellent!!! If you are even the slightiest bit into operas, fairy tales and castles, go there! ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 Didn't go there. It was FAR TOO CROWDED and pickpockets are a plague in Prague. And as it is mostly a "souvenir alley" i was not interested. Depends on what you want from your journey actually. ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 One of the most beautiful old city squares in Europe. All around churches and old towers, lots of people and great vibe day and night! Be there! ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 Very beautiful but also very crowded!! I didn't like that you have to buy SPECIAL LICENSE TO TAKE PHOTOS (on top of the ticket). Other than that a wonderful place to stroll and shop and eat. ![]() Bratislava, West Slovakia, Slovakia ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 Beautiful, yet very cheap. Not to miss if you are around (for example in Vienna). You can see most in one day excursion and having spent less than 10 euros (including food)!! BUT, it is a bit dirtier than other cities and some monuments are left without attention for some time... ![]() Tokyo, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 Actually spread over some of the most impressive skyscrapers in Shinjuku that sport great design and architecture! You can see them while walking around Shinjuku for sure,. ![]() Athina, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 The temple complex on Acropolis is a well-known monument around the world. Parthenon is the main temple and well worth seeing if you are after a part of human history. If you think ancient temples are only stones stay away :P BTW, don't miss the museum nearby ;) ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 An area with lots of trendy cafe's for youngsters and students. Other than that, nothing to stand out. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 An excellent gothic structure!Looking impressive on the outside and stays so in the inside too! Well worth a visit (thought it might not be open to public at all occasions, your best bet is the Sudoku Tournament and other such activities) ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 Hundertwasser house is a work of art in itself. Hundertwasser's vision in all its glory is really worth a look!! (quite hard to get there though... a long walk from the nearest station) ![]() Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 A great "old city centre" with lots of classic buildings and churches. Outside it though... the city is dark, gloomy and damp... Still, there are many places to eat and mini-markets that are open till late.. and overall it is quite easy to get around. BEWARE OF THE PICKPOCKETS THOUGH!!!! ![]() Samos, Northern Aegean Islands, Greece ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 Quite overrated. Beautiful beach and harbour with lots of nice restaurants/tavernas to eat. Other than that though, is not a nice place to walk around or has anything more to see... If you are into the "swim-stay underthe sun-eat"holidays it's a 4 or 5 though ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 One of the most beautiful churches in Austria, the grand St. Stephen's Cathedral is a place to visit. Steer away from the tourist-trap coaches though. In summer time the area around the church is filled with Mozart-dressed people selling tickets to operas and concerts and also the smell of the horses of the coaches could be unbearable around them. ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 Hyde Park is overrated but Camden Market is good and mostly overcrowded! Recommended for walks, preferrably not when the crowds are out and about. ![]() Berlin, Berlin Region, Germany ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 The "museum island" is a place with many big and important museums in Berlin. A real cultural island, worth your visit if you are into museums. You could easily spend days here! ![]() Nikko, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 14, 2008 As the whole of Nikko area a charm and really worth visiting as a day trip from Tokyo! ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 The square as such does not offer much. The area around it is pretty normal too. ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 Definitely worth a visit for anyone into churches!! A pinnacle of English churches, with LOTS of famous people's graves inside. Lots of statues included too. ![]() T'ai-pei, Northern Taiwan, Taiwan ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 Not much special here, but quite a lovely place! Especially for a morning walk! ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 Beautiful sunsets at the site of the Poseidon temple.Unfortunately inter-city buses leave early :( ![]() Berlin, Berlin Region, Germany ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 Nice. That's all. ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 Great View of Athens City! Plus you can hear nice concerts at the theater on top of the hill (when available). Worth a hike. ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 Shorter than i thought. Still a nice tie-in to the Parliament. ![]() Athens, Athens & Attica, Greece ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 The main clothes shopping street in Athens. Lots of people, lots of brands, quite expensive. ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 I wouldn't say it is special.. there are much more beautiful rivers (and much cleaner too) in Europe. ![]() Vienna, Vienna State, Austria ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 Though the building is (disgustingly) yellow, the interior is luxurious, the shop perfect for souvenirs and the gardens a pleasure to stroll around (also some hidden gems like the funny little labyrinths exist). By all means, visit it if you are there! (assuming you are interested in culture/history and nice walks). ![]() Nafplion, Western Greece, Ionian Islands & Peloponnese, Greece ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 A nice run-down castle... not much to see except from some famous cells (it was a turkish prison), but the view is breath taking. If you prefer to go by stairs... mind that they are TOO many! ![]() London, England, United Kingdom ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 Impressive! that sums it up, i think. A must-visit in London. ![]() Kyoto, Kansai Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 Quite the "traditional tourist trap"... lots of useless stuff, sometimes overpriced... you should really go there for the vibe, the crowds and the temple... but not the market (though i have to admit some bargains DO exist out there). ![]() Tokyo, Kantō Region, Japan ![]() Added Oct 13, 2008 I write this about Roppongi Hills actually: a really trendy and beautiful luxurious set of appartments, cafes, restaurants in Tokyo. Overall, it is very nice and, well... all you might expect from a trendy place... but if trendiness is not your cup of tea (like me), just enjoy the !great view! (in my opinion the best of all the skyscraper Tokyo views i had) from Mori Tower and move on!! The lowdown on Spyridon K.What's this person like as a travel companion?
